The Executive FPM (EFPM) is a non-residential, Doctoral Programme that has been designed to cater to the scholarly needs of working executives/ managers/ faculty members/ researchers.
The objectives of the programme are to:
- Train prospective scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers and teachers in various aspects of management.
- Promote research relevant to management and organization.
- Develop theory and practice of management as relevant to the Indian context; and accordingly develop management education in India.
The programme prepares the students for careers not only in management research and teaching but also in management practice, consulting, training, and development.
Duration of the Program
The maximum permissible time for the programme completion is 8 years. If the student fails to submit the thesis proposal within 4 years, he/she need to re-register with a fee of Rs. 1,00,000/-. Within 3 years of thesis proposal, the final defense has to be made.
Students failing to complete the requirements within this time period will be deemed to have withdrawn from the Program.
Besides the campus visits of 20 days' duration each that are needed to finish the course work, at least 3 additional campus visits will normally be needed to finish comprehensive examination, defend the thesis proposal, and defend the final thesis.
A student has to meet all the requirements of the Program according to prescribed standards including the permissible maximum duration of the Program as above and no exemption will be granted for any reason whatsoever.
Area of Specialization
At the time of applying for admission, a candidate is required to choose his/her area of specialization for the purpose of the thesis. Student can pursue research in the following areas:
- Human Resource Management
- Information Systems
- Organizational Behaviour
- Production, Operations & Decision Sciences
- Strategic Management
A student is permitted to change the area of research only with the permission of FPM Committee. The FPM Committee may require the student to do some more courses suitable for the changed research area as the condition for such a change.
have an MBA/Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or equivalent or GMP/PGPX or One Year full-time residential programme in Management (with 60% marks). Candidates from Premier B-Schools will be given preference.
be currently employed in a full-time job.
have at least 5 years of full-time executive/managerial/teaching/research experience as on March 31, 2018.
Candidates less than 50 years of age shall get preference.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a personal interview at XLRI, Jamshedpur for final selection.
