EFPM at XLRI Jamshedpur Offline Course

The Executive FPM (EFPM) is a non-residential, Doctoral Programme that has been designed to cater to the scholarly needs of working executives/ managers/ faculty members/ researchers.

The objectives of the programme are to:

• Train prospective scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers and teachers in various aspects of management.
• Promote research relevant to management and organization.
• Develop theory and practice of management as relevant to the Indian context; and accordingly develop management education in India.

The programme prepares the students for careers not only in management research and teaching but also in management practice, consulting, training, and development.

Duration of the Program

The EFPM student is expected to complete the programme in about 5 years. The maximum permissible time for the completing the programme completion is 8 years. Students failing to complete the requirements within this time period will be deemed to have withdrawn from the program and their candidature in the programme will be closed.

Besides the campus visits of 20 days' duration each that are needed to finish the course work, at least 3 additional campus visits will normally be needed to finish comprehensive examination, defend the thesis proposal, and defend the final thesis.

A student has to meet all the requirements of the Program according to prescribed standards including the permissible maximum duration of the Program as above and no exemption will be granted for any reason whatsoever.

Area of Specialization

At the time of applying for admission, a candidate is required to choose his/her area of specialization for the purpose of the thesis. Student can pursue research in the following areas:

• Economics
• Finance
• Human Resource Management
• Information Systems
• Marketing
• Organizational Behaviour
• Production, Operations & Decision Sciences
• Strategic Management

A student is permitted to change the area of research only with the permission of FPM Committee. The FPM Committee may require the student to do some more courses suitable for the changed research area as the condition for such a change.
