About DUET Exam 2020

Delhi University conducts Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) for admission of candidates to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Candidates are offered admissions through either Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) or merit list of qualifying examination or specified provisions for which candidates must register online to take part in admission process. Candidates appearing through entrance examination have no access to reservations under Kashmiri migrants, Sikkim students, ward quota and sports. The admission authority of Delhi University releases DUET applications in online mode. Candidates who qualify written examination are invited to attend for interview or group discussion. The merit list is prepared based on which candidates are offered admission to the respective degree (UG & PG) programmes.

DUET Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria

DUET Exam B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for the entrance examination for admission to B.Tech degree programme must meet eligibility criteria of DUET B.Tech. The eligible candidates will only be able to apply for the admission through DUET. Application form of candidates not meeting the set DUET eligibility criteria will be rejected. Candidates must meet the following set eligibility criteria:

  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have qualified their Class 12th and must have secured an aggregate of 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Qualifying Subject: Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in four subjects which must include Mathematics as compulsory subject.
  • Age: There is no age criteria for candidates applying for admission to UG courses and wishes to get admission to participating colleges of DUET except in the programmes where the respective regulatory bodies, such as Medical Council of India (MCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council of India (BCI), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Dental Council of India (DCI), etc. have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their regulations.

DUET Exam B.A. Hons Humanities and Social Sciences Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must refer to the eligibility criteria of DUET BA Hons Humanities and Social Sciences before applying for the entrance examination. Applications of candidates meeting the DUET BA Hons Humanities and Social Sciences eligibility criteria will only be accepted and rest will be subjected to rejections. Admission to candidates in desired programmes will be offered only on the basis of eligibility criteria. Candidates must meet following criteria for admission:

  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates appearing for entrance examination must have secured at least 60% marks in qualifying examination (Class 12th or equivalent examination).
  • Qualifying Subject: Candidates must have secured aggregate of 60% marks in four subjects in the qualifying examination. 
  • Age: There is no such age criteria for the candidates applying for admission to UG courses offered by participating institutes of Delhi University.

DUET Exam B.A. Hons Multimedia and Mass Communication Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for the entrance examination are advised to refer to eligibility criteria of DUET BA Hons Multimedia and Mass Communication. Candidates must refer to DUET BA Hons Multimedia and Mass Communication eligibility criteria before applying for entrance examination. The admission authority will set eligibility criteria for candidates which needs to be fulfilled by candidate without which applications of candidates will not be accepted. Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates appearing for entrance examination must have secured an aggregate of 75% marks in qualifying examination (Class 12th or equivalent examination) along with 85% marks in English.
  • Qualifying Subject: Candidates must have secured aggregate of 75% marks in four subjects along with 85% marks in English in the qualifying examination. Candidates may include Mass Media Studies as an academic subject among best four subjects.  
  • Age: There is no such age criteria for the candidates applying for admission to UG courses offered by participating institutes of Delhi University.

DUET Exam PG Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the admission to PG courses offered by the institutes of Delhi University must refer to eligibility criteria of DUET PG. With the help of DUET PG eligibility criteria, candidates will have an idea whether they are eligible to appear for the entrance examination or not. Candidates applying for the admission through DUET if do not meet the required DUET PG eligibility criteria, candidature of such candidates will be rejected. Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria of DUET PG as mentioned below:

  • Age: There is no such minimum age which needs to be fulfilled if a candidates wishes to take admission in participating colleges of Delhi University for the postgraduate degree course.
  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have qualified bachelor degree which can be checked from the below mentioned table along with the qualifying marks.

Eligibility Criteria of DUET PG

  • Qualifying Exam: Graduate degree in any stream.

  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: 50% marks for general, 45% marks for OBC and 40% marks for SC/ST.

LLM

  • Qualifying Exam:  3 or 5 year LLB degree from any recongnized university.
  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: 50% marks for general, 45% marks for OBC and 40% marks for SC/ST.

MCA

  • Qualifying Exam: 3 years bachelor degree with at least one paper in Mathematical Sciences.

  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: Aggregate 60% marks

M.Com

  • Qualifying Exam: B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), B.A. (Hons.) Economics or equivalent from any recognized university.

  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: 50% marks for general, 45% marks for OBC and 40% marks for SC/ST.

M.Tech             (Microwave Electronics)

          
  • Qualifying Exam: M.Sc. Electronics, M.Sc. Physics with specialization in Electronic or B.Tech./B.E. Electrical/ Electronics/ Electronics and Communication/Instrumentation Engineering degree.

  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: 60% marks in aggregate.        

M.Ed

  • Qualifying Exam: B.Ed, B.A.B.Ed, B.Sc.B.Ed, B.El.Ed or D.El.Ed with an undergraduate degree from any recognized university.
  • Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination: 50% marks in qualifying exam.

Mode of Application : Online

Mode of Payment : Net Banking | Credit Card | Debit Card

Candidates applying for the admission to various UG degree programmes can fill the application form in online mode. Candidates are required to register first if they wish to apply for the admission. After the registration is complete, candidates could fill the application form with all required and necessary details. The details required to be entered are personal details, academic details, address of communication, course selection, uploading documents and payment of application fees. The application fee could only be paid in an online mode. Candidates will be able to edit the details entered in application form till the last date of registration, but only before the payment of application fees. It must be noted that all valid and correct details must be entered failing which will lead to rejection of application form. Candidates can go through the following steps wise process while filling the application form of DUET.

  • Registration: Candidates at first will have to register for the examination. Candidates will have to provide their name, valid email address, choose a security question, answer to the security question, password, and captcha and then click on submit. After submitting the details, a screen will appear with the registration details which can be saved for future reference.
  • Log in: After the registration process is complete, candidates will have to log in by entering their registered email address as Username, password and captcha. Click on submit to fill the application form of DUET.
  • Fill the Application Form: After being logged in, candidates must go through the declaration and accept it before starting with online registration by clicking on Continue. Candidates must then enter their personal details, bank details (for the refund of fee in case of cancellation of admission), academic details, merit based programme/course selection, entrance based programme/course selection, sports and extra-curricular activities. After entering the details, click on submit to proceed to the next step.
  • Upload Documents: Candidates after entering their details in the application form will be asked to upload scanned images of their documents. Documents required are passport size photograph, scanned signature, self-attested copies of Class 10th and Class 12th marksheet, caste certificate and Sports/ECA certificates (if applicable). Click on "Next" to proceed to the next step.
  • Preview Application Form: Candidates can preview the application form before proceeding to the final submission of the application form. During this preview part, candidates will be able to check the information entered. If any information entered is incorrect, candidates will be able to rectify the details if necessary.
  • Payment of Application Fees: Candidates will be redirected to the payment gateway to make the payment. The payment will be accepted in an online mode only through either Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
  • Submit Application Form: After the payment is successfully made, candidates are requested to keep a receipt of payment. Also, download the application form and get at least 2 printouts for future reference.

The admission authority of Delhi University releases the admit card of DUET in online mode. DUET Admit Card is not sent through post or any other mode to the applicants. Candidates could access their admit card from the admission portal by entering details such as Username ID, password and captcha. After login candidates must check the details mentioned on DUET admit card and in case of any discrepancies, they should immediately contact admission authority. Download (if in case of no discrepancy) and get at least 2 printouts of the same for future use. Admit card of DUET is an important document which must be handled carefully and should be preserved until all admission processes are complete.

Documents Required at Exam

The admission authority of Delhi University will release the provisional answer key of DUET in July. Candidates who have appeared in the entrance examination will be able to access DUET answer key through the admission portal. The answer key of DUET will comprise of correct answers to the questions which appeared in the entrance examination. Candidates can go through the answer key to know an estimate or probable marks in the entrance examination. The final answer key of DUET will be released in July.

The result of DUET for all UG & PG courses is declared in July in the online mode. Candidates will be able to access their result in an online mode by logging to admission portal and download the same in PDF format. DUET result comprise of marks secured by candidates in entrance examination. Shortlisted candidates of written examination will be called to attend interview or group discussion. On the basis of the performance, a merit list will be prepared after which candidates will be allotted seats in respective programmes.

Delhi University's admission authority will release the cutoff list for different UG and PG programmes. DUET Cutoff marks are the minimum marks that a candidate must secure in  order to be eligible for admission in preferred college/programme through DUET. The cutoff list will be different for institutes, category and courses. Candidate who meet the requisite cutoff of DUET must login to admission portal and select college/programme where he/she wishes to take admission.

Mode of Counselling: Offline

Admission authority of Delhi University will conduct counselling of DUET after declaration of admission list. Candidates who qualifies the entrance examination will be invited to attend counselling of DUET. For the counselling, candidates must register themselves and select the colleges or programmes as per their choice where they wish to take admission. Female candidates can make a total of 21 preference while male candidates can make a total of 17 preferences. Preferences once submitted cannot be changed once the payment of fees is done. Seat will be allotted to preferred course and colleges on the basis of rank secured by the candidate. If preferred college or programme is allotted to candidate, changes will not allowed. Candidates will have to get their documents verified after the seat allotment process at the allotted college to confirm their seat within a stipulated time period.
