IIM Ranchi Admission Eligibility
Good Luck!
Kshitij you have an average academic record. For a general category student to get a call from top IIMs like IIM A, B and C you need to have above 99.6+ percentile. For other old IIMs like IIM K, L and I you need to have above 98+ percentile and 99+ to increase the probability of your conversion. To get a call from all new IIMs and ultra new IIMs you need to have 95+ percentile.
So to ensure your call from IIM Ranchi target a min. 97+ percentile and from IIM Kozhikode target 98.5+ percentile. But again there is again no surety of selection or getting a call from these colleges because CAT marks are not the only parameter involved in the selection procedure. After CAT exam every college in which you have applied prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer whose weightage varies for all different colleges.
So along with a high percentile, you need to have an overall excellent profile. All the best!!
Hi Rishi! No, both institutes mentioned by you do not have state domicile quota. While IIM Ranchi follows the caste based reservation criteria as stated by the Govt. of India, XLRI Jamshedpur being a private institute does not have caste based or state domicile quota.
I am assuming you are from general category. Based on your overall academic profile, you will need to score atleast 96 percentile in CAT to get a call for the next round of new IIMs.
All the best!
Hello Vmal Francis! First of all congratulations! Yes, you should definitely go for WAT PI. IIM Ranchi is a decorated college and does well in all the aspects. All the best! Hope this helps.
TISS courses are good and HR is also recommended, TISS HR course will make you a thorough HR professional. It is different from a general HR course than in IIM's or XLRI.
TISS is a renowed for HR, curriculum of M.A from TISS is much more better than MBA from any general university. The best part is the Fieldworks are all with leading companies in diverse industries from Conglomerates to FMCG to Financial Services. There is separate summer Internship and an NGO internship as well in the course.
So I will say if you get the chance and admission then go ahead.
Good Luck.

As a current student at IIM Ranchi, I’ve seen the institute evolve from interim facilities to the newly developing permanent campus. Although some areas are still under construction, the existing infrastructure is modern and functional. Our classrooms are equipped with smart boards and projectors, which makes learning interactive. The hostel accommodations are comfortable, with good internet connectivity and essential amenities. While the campus isn’t the largest, it fosters a close-knit community and easy interaction with peers and faculty.
College infrastructure is very nice and it has all adequate infrastructure. It currently lacks designated sports complex but it will be done in upcoming year. It has sufficient canteens, supermarket, gym etc necessary for a residential program.
We did not have a permanent campus at that time, hence rated 4. Wifi was available, AC classroom, single occupancy hostel, clean space, Good breakfast and snacks, terrible lunch, average dinner. Now IIM Ranchi has a permanent campus. So things are a lot better now.
