In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.

The hostels in the temporary campus of IIT Bhilai are superb. The mess food is quite good and the quantity given is very filling. There is a separate building for medical facilities and the staff there are very knowledgeable and keep track of the students health quite vigorously.IIT Bhilai offers course credits for completing certain number of hours playing the sport of your choice. Social service activities are also given equal importance.The library has a large selection of books to choose from and a number of laptops and tablets for reading and study purposes.
