72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/Pharmacy in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
- Four-year bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0, from any of the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.
- A candidate having a Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area, with a Postgraduate Degree in Management Science(Finance) or MBA with Finance specialization or equivalent, is also considered for admission in the area of specialization `Construction Management’, of the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of 6.5 CPI or 60% marks in Bachelor's level and 6.5 CPI or 60% marks in the postgraduate degree.
- A candidate havingMScdegree with Mathematics as a subject at the bachelor’s level is also considered for admission in the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level with consistent first class at other levels.
- A candidate having a Two-year Master's degree (after completion of 4-year Bachelor's degree) or three-year Master's degree (after completion of 3-year Bachelor's degree) in Engineering/ Technology/Science in a relevant area with minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks, A candidate with a Two-year MSc degree (after completion of 3-year Bachelor's degree) in a relevant area with minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% marks,
- Postgraduates in Computer Science (ALCCS) from Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks, are also eligible to apply for admission into PhD programme in Computer Science and Engineering
- A regular student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/herMTechstudies and having a minimum CPI of 8.0 at the end of the second semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department at the beginning of his/her third semester of study. Such students can receive only a PhD Degree.
- A student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her BTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 6.5 at the end of the sixth semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department at the beginning of his/her seventh semester of study. Such students can receive dual BTech and PhD Degree. Both the degrees will be awarded after completion of a PhD degree.

College Infrastructure
The hostel where you will be staying offers excellent accommodation, delicious food, and efficient maintenance services. Each room is equipped with LAN connectivity, while Wi-Fi is available in the common areas. The laboratories are well-equipped, and the teachers maintain a disciplined environment, although they may be slightly strict. In Guwahati, attendance is monitored through biometric systems, and it is mandatory for you to attend.

College Infrastructure
Course structure is well planned. Professors always takes care of the schedule and the syllebus. Wi-Fi is available in all the classrooms. There are many classrooms available equipped with projectors green board, AC and excellent lighting system. There is a central library to study and for finding book of your choice. Apart from the central library, there is a library in every hostel. Each Hostel have own dining hall. Hostel has stationary shops, library, common room, sports room, juice shop, and many more.

The infrastructure and green environment provides a perfect place for studying and enhancing the knowledge also hostels are fine with single seater room food can be improved a bit and also the cleanliness is also upto the mark
