24 MonthsThe M.Tech program in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Infrastructure) provides an opportunity for engineering students to mould themselves to meet the needs, requirements and challenges of infrastructure development in the power industries. The aim of this PG degree is to obtain research and developments on the most advanced technologies for analyzing, predicting and optimizing Electrical infrastructure like Transmission and Distribution, Renewable Energy Sources, Smart Grid, Communication Engineering etc. The main gaps to be filled are those between researchers and practitioners in electrical infrastructure developers.

Minimum of 55% marks / 5.5 (on a 10 point scale) in B.E. /B.Tech. or equivalent in appropriate branches (50% marks for SC /ST/SEBC applicants). Students whose results are awaited for the final Semester can also apply. However, their final admission is subjected to submission of final Semester marks/grades by 31st July.
For Non-GATE qualified applicants, the eligibility criteria mentioned above is a minimum and the individual disciplines may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC categories would be eligible for relaxations, as per norms, in the selection criteria.
The total sanctioned intake will be filled in the following manner:
A. Seats shall be filled up, based on the applications received on the basis of GATE score and ranks.
B. Seats remaining vacant, after above will be filled based on the written test/computer-based MCQ test conducted at the Institute.
