Swayam is a programme made by the government of India to educate students all over the country. It provides numerous courses for students at different levels of education. Courses offered by them are free and only certificate fee is to be paid.
Microwave engineering is one type of course provided by them. It is an undergraduate level course belonging to the category of electrical, communications engineering photonics. It does not limit its course takers. Any person can take up this course. No work experience is required.
Fundamental basics of microwave engineering will be taught in this course. The main aim of this course is to set up a foundation for microwave engineering to the students of undergraduate level. They will teach you about the types of microwave: active and passive and their designs. They will also give an overview of microwave application of microwaves in communication and other areas.
They have referred books thus it becomes easy for you and not look here and there for study material. They have a personal instructor Prof. Ratnajit Bhattacharjee. He is a professor in the department of electronics and electrical engineering, IIT Guwahati.
It is a course of 12 weeks which will add up your knowledge on a microwave which is the most used item in a household and has now become a necessary requirement. No beforehand knowledge is required for this course. You can start it at any stage and at any time.

The Syllabus
Evaluation process
To obtain the certificate for this course you have to give an exam in person on 20th December 2020 at the centre provided by them and pay fees of Rs. 1,000/-. The exam is held in two shifts: 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm. You need to fill an online registration form for this certificate and pay the fees mentioned above.
Few requirements are to be met to get this certificate which is as follows:
- Your average assignment score shall be 25% of the average of best 8 assignments out of 12
- Your final score shall be the average assignment score _ exam score.
- Your average assignment score shall be greater than 10/25 and exam score shall be more than 30/75. If this criterion is not met, you will not be awarded the certificate even if your score is 40/100.
- The certificate will have your name, photograph and your score.
- It will have the logo of NPTEL and IIT Guwahati. It can be e-verified at nptel.ac.in/noc.
