72 MonthsResearch at NU in the physics area focuses on nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanomagnetic materials, nanocomposite, multifunctional hybrid nanostructure, hard and soft nanoferrites and its combination, Cyclic voltametry, impedance spectroscopy, gas sensor and semiconductor quantum dot devices. Current work involves synthesis and characterization of nanomagnetic materials, semiconductor quantum dot and multifunctional nanomagnetic/quantum dot core/shell heterostructure in thin film and powder form, investigate and understand the correlation between growth process variables and observed properties. Devices using nanomaterials are an area of emphasis with applications such as fabrication of nanocrystalline oxide gas sensors which assist in moving towards a sustainable society.
Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
