In most colleges it is not necessary to stay in the hostels offered by the colleges. Infact most colleges do not have enough hostel rooms to accommodate all students
However there are some colleges which are strictly residential and you need to be compulsorily living in the college hostels.

Your son needs to clear CLAT exam organize by National Law Universities every year with very good rank ie. Below 2000. The CLAT exam score is used for getting admission in good Central Law Universities across the nation which have only limited seats in BSc LLB.

College Infrastructure
The infrastructure is pretty bad here at nujs. BSc LLB students don't have a hostel on the main campus and have to live in a 2nd Campus requsitioned by the college from BSNL. We also have a separate acad block than BA students.
My experience in this college has been academically dynamic.

The infrastructure of the college isn't the best. Since the college campus is in the middle of the city, it is only about five acres. There is also a lot of construction taking place because they are trying to expand and improve.
