Gujarat sounds quite offputting. But if you really want to study law, you might want to not have your decision driven by the name of the place, leading to you missing out on a possibly great opportunity and a brilliant student crowd. there is much to learn and always things to do. It is an ideal place for a student, whose high expectations concern his career and not the merits of the shopping malls in the city. So yeah, quite a yogi life, but who knows it'll be worth it

Seniors in college are really helpful. I have received plenty opportunities to moot and debate. I really enjoy both the activities, the college also supports our endeavours in MUN-ing. The college is very affordable, the fee is quite less. Some of the professors are brilliant and indulge in class exercises.

College Life is vibrant here with the presence of Pan-Indian Culture.Infrastructure is quite good with easy accessibility to all the sections of the students.Regarding Hostel life, every basic amenities is available here.Ranging from Wi-Fi to decent quality of mess food which is otherwise missing in most of the colleges. The assimilation of various cultures, frequent extra curricular activities, less stress on academic life adds to the beauty of college life.

Inside GNLU - the memorable journey

Soubhagya Ranjan
Posted on 13 Sep' 16 by Soubhagya Ranjan
Batch of 2019
THE GNLU REVIEW By Soubhagya Ranjan Swain ( 3rd year student of GNLU) Gujarat National Law University, It has been a terrific experience so far. Honestly, I had no interest in pursuing a career in law in the first place. I just accidentally bumped into CLAT and cracked it. Then destiny brought me to this little speck of heaven called GNLU. Let me present you some glimpses of my roller coaster journey in GNLU:- Campus: The circular campus houses within it two well-built hostels for boys and girls, an academic block, an administrative block and a state of the art auditorium. The auditorium of GNLU can put even the commonwealth games to shame. The classrooms have comfy seats (adequate enough to induce a limbo) and an AC that always falls 2 degrees shy of the optimum. The circular campus results in inarguably long nightly walks which entail substantial distance but no displacement. The greenery isn’t ideal enough from an environmental point of view but suits the lovebirds well in an unscrupulous manner. The campus maybe small in a relative manner (of course there’s no beating LPU) but the memories are gigantic. Faculty: Well, the faculty is a mix of the excellent, the good and the decent (I am being absolutely honest so don’t stare at the subtlety of the words). I have come across some amazing profs during my time here. The profs are not just profoundly knowledgeable but also extremely considerate (making survival of a naughty brat easier). I mean like, seriously, where else can you find the profs working till 10pm in the night just to ensure things get done in time. Academics: The curriculum is one of the boldest and bravest in the world. (riding the edge of a knife, almost). Five combinations in integrated law (Takes real guts and craft to have a BSW-LLB in the fold), extremely ingenuine and truly innovative. People over here are very serious about academics( there will always be three guys in the corridor mugging up all the case laws). Extra curriculars: Mooting is the buzzword in GNLU. There are literally two paths at the end of the first compulsory intra rounds of the 1st semester, either you fall in love with it or you pretend it never existed. The dedication of the moot court committee is reflected in the spectacular achievements of the university (We did win the Jessup India rounds this time). And the ever optimistic MCC head, Girish Sir, who is an apostle of friendliness, is at the forefront of such achievements. The debating culture in GNLU is terrific and the decibels tend to get really high in the practice rounds. There is a host of different clubs and committees in GNLU. Cultural and recreational activities keep occurring almost every other day and I won’t even complain because I don’t like studying at all. The committees and clubs may seem a bit classist on the surface but then there are no pure blessings. And the selection sometimes tends to be a little violative of PNJ but then one can learn to live with it without a lawsuit. Mess and residential facilities: Okay, this section literally affects my body and mind. The hostels have twin sharing rooms for guys and partially twin sharing accommodation for girls ( That’s good right, Women empowerment, JKT). I have no particular idea about what transpires in the girls hostel but the boys hostel never runs out of surprises. There are emergency fire drills, clogged washrooms, guards on every floor, smuggled items from the charters of the NDPS, rickety WiFi routers and live snakes ( Yes, no kidding). But the staff has always been supportive of everything legal (You are on your own for illegal stuff). Friendships happened in a flash in the beginning and ended in a flash gradually. People from different parts of the country met only to realize what “nationality” in a form actually means. There are attached bathrooms in the girls’ hostel and long queues in the morning in the boys’ hostel (Teaches patience and tolerance, important virtues). But overall, the hostels are really nice. The curfew times have swung like a pendulum but still happen to be the best in the country. One can stay out of his/her hostel till 1:30 am (it used to be 3:00 am) and I cannot express in words how significantly these timings have impacted my life. The menu in the mess has cuisines from all over the country but has managed to achieve a unique national integration to create the same flavour in the taste buds (which is not very appeasing). But it is still better than most of the colleges and one can learn to live on just breakfast and snacks (You can have egg dishes everyday in snacks). The mess tables provide for interesting conversations and sometimes, for awkward silences. There is a night mess facility which remains open till 1:30 am and is a perfect remedy for the midnight snack. Overall, GNLU is an experience worth carrying to the grave. It surely deserves the ranks it has been given by popular magazines (ranks 3 and 4).

GNLU is a very fun place to be. A student, right out of school, gets the right amount of exposure to showcase his talent, be it in sports, dance, music, theatre or any other co-curricular activity. Knowing the right people surely helps you through the years. It is one such place where one can easily learn to balance his life equally, for the fun element and academics. Moreover, the University has a lot of affiliations and a plethora of other knowledge activities which keeps the students engaged at all times. The student community, staff and faculty are all very supportive in such formative years of life. However, one thing which lacks is the quality of teachers which the college employs. The subject and the courses, however eye-catching they may seem, are all mellowed down by the incompetent faculty. Not that teachers are bad, but in my opinion, since it is a world class University in the making,it can definitely do better. Also, the college should take initiatives to build a stronger student body for proper representation.

Gujarat National Law University is one of the top ranking law colleges in the country which gives a lot of opportunities to the students like Model United Nations, Moot Court Competition which is compulsory for the first year student which helps them to enhance their research and speaking skills that subsequently prepare them in the litigation area. Also, there are many certificate courses happening in different fields like Air and Space Law, Maritime Law, Family Laws, Banking Laws, Sports Laws and Entertainment Laws and much more which has a lot of scope in these fields in India. There are many centers like Sports laws which are the only center in India. The students who have a membership of this center has got the opportunity to work with the renowned Lawyer in this field and Sports Industries. The two biggest Moot Court Competitions i.e., GNLU International Moot Court Competition and GNLU Moot on Securities and Investment Laws happens in a year where people across the globe participate. For a healthy body you need a healthy mind, therefore, GNLU organizes Sports Fest like Justice League and many Intra College Sports Competition where college gives the infrastructure to the student's inter-batch students participate against each other and shows up their skills. Also, the Cultural Fest “PENTAGRAM” at the end of the year where for the week we celebrate and wear different attire like Pyjamas on Pyjama Day, Becomes HIPPES on the Hippe and Halloween Day, Traditional on Ethnic Day, School Dress on Back to School Day. This Experience would be incomplete without the Hostels and Mess Food. No wonder how we crib about it, we will miss these wonderful spots of the College. Warden becoming our mothers for the times being. Our College has one of the best professors who nourish the students in such a way that we end up getting placement in big firms and top MNCs. What else you want from a college!

The diverse and informed crowd is the USP of this university. The balance between the academics and extra curricular activities just add to the beauty of the university. We have a good debating and MUN society. The faculty as a whole is decent and few professors are actually well informed. But this somewhat lacking arena is compensated by the cordial and interactive atmosphere among the batch mates. And yes, food and cleanliness in the campus, as well as hostels, can lead to great ROI for any parent. Judging by the standard of the food available in other college and universities, its high grade. Coming to the evident part, infrastructure is small but good. Placements are good and consistently picking up. I will advise any student to come here and don't regret after five years.

GNLU is like another world. It is located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad away from the city life. Our college has well-equipped gyms, recreation rooms and most importantly a Night Mess! We have a preamble in our Administrative building which is actually for conference and meetings. There should be a better policy related to internships with corporate law firms and industries. For example, the committee on recruitment at GNLU doesn't provide internship opportunities for the 4th year with corporate law firms and companies which act as a barrier for some students to get exposure in this field. there can be an increase in the number of the extra curricular events, even though the current frequency of events would also suffice but the same could be made more happening if there is some new out of the box kind of events are organised now and then otherwise it becomes very monotonous. The college should provide a more liberal policy toward internships and placements because the direct effect of easy and quality internships would lead to an improvement in the quality of the students sitting for the placements as they would be getting more and more exposure to this legal field of knowledge and this would create a better batch of candidates sitting for the interviews on day zero/placements. The college faculty tries to cover their portion in a small period of time. They should either reduce the portion and try to provide quality education. There is a lot of exposure from different parts of the country- lots of people with varied thinking help in gaining perspective. So, there are new forms of dancing, new topics of research and so on. The college is affordable as there are decent facilities in the hostel and jeu provide us food 4 times day which ensures that we don't need to spend on food. The mess and canteen rates are cheap.

Though some teachers are excelling majority are deep down in waters when it comes to teaching. basically, you can call it loose teaching. Efforts could be made to improve research abilities among students and making actual legal practitioners. mess food is sometimes atrocious although more than often bearable. the overall experience has not been bad.

As a proud student of the university, I can assure that the life here is much more easy and simple than you can think of. In academic as well as non-academic activities, the students' concerns are taken cared of, they are not left out while taking any decisions. This is what makes the life here much more simpler, hence making the environment conducive to pursue your dreams.

Academics must be improved. some faculties are absolutely useless. For example, tax faculty says that dividend is the income under capital gains!! further, the approach should be towards moulding student's legal acumen instead of making him an exam skit tool.

Infrastructure is good but the faculty is below average. The college has a good reputation because of its students and alumni. Director of our college assigns subject to teachers which they don't know. Library is excellent. University has collaboration with many foreign universities in which students go in the foreign exchange program.

Well, i believe that there are sufficient opportunities that the college provides. The infrastructure is really good as compared to other NLU's but nowhere competes with IIT's. The faculty and the research culture needs improvement. I wish that the number of students in a batch should be decreased. 200 per batch is just too much for the faculty.

GNLU is a University located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. It is surrounded by 5 other colleges. GNLU has good infrastructure with an amazing library full of books covering all aspects of the law. GNLU also provides access to legal databases like manupatra and SCC online. It has a good mooting culture and the seniors are helpful too with moots as well as academics. GNLU provides good opportunities with regard to sports, moots, theatre and other cultural and co-curricular activities. Regular certificate courses are also organised with specialised faculty to give more exposure to students. Guests come from all over the world and it gives an international exposure to the students. Overall, it is a good college to be in.

Apart from some administration/ management issues, there's nothing more I could have asked for. Given the number of activities on campus - academic, co-curricular as well as extra-curricular, you'd almost always be busy with something. You get great exposure, given you make use of the ample opportunities provided to you. Food is average, so is the hostel facility. One of the major downsides about the campus is that it's on the outskirts of the city, which makes accessibility difficult and transportation quite expensive.

Academics should improve a lot. Focus should be on to make a student a better legal thinker and on developing his legal acumen. instead of giving the lessons to vomit in exam what has been taught, he/she should be taught to get knowledge in every process like moots, publications, internships and of course daily readings.

Lawyers: Always & Forever

GNLU is one of the craziest places. We have a huge campus with Auditorium, AC classrooms, 3-floor library, recreation rooms in the hostels, Gyms, Volleyball and Basketball Courts, Football and Cricket Ground. We also have a night mess (which is super cool) and a Multi-Purpose Store and Hogger's Den on campus. In my opinion, there should be air-conditioned hostel rooms as it is too hot in summers, proper car-parking arrangements should be made, transportation arrangements to nearby bus stops or eatery points should be made on weekends as everything is far away. Also, washing machines and iron per floor should be provided in hostels and a pantry can as well be opened up in a hostel as Hot pots or kettles are not allowed. GNLU arranges a variety of certificate courses like recently a course on Financial Planning and Management is being held to make the student community aware about the functioning of the law in the corporate world. There are distinguished guest lectures of key persons from different fields of law. There are training programmes such as Arbitration Training Programme to empower the students in gaining practice knowledge. Opportunities for internships are also provided-such internship may be part-time or the whole time. Various committees if the college also holds lecture series to enhance students exposure to law. GNLU does give importance to extra curricular as well as co-curricular activities along with Academics. The Student Activities Committee is very active in my college. College is fun because we get to organise and attend events like Pentagram (cultural fest) as well as Justice League(Sports fest) which brings the whole college together. The Sports Committee organises inter-batch or inter-college competitions where all students come together. Currently, GNLU Box Bash is on where girls and boys have to form a group of 6 and play under arm cricket. So there's always something to do and it's not all studies. Also, we have certificate courses, call for papers, moot court competitions, Debates and MUNs which makes the "law" part more interesting too. GNLU does address most of the concerns (by alumni meets and lectures). However, attempts should be made to attract tier 2 firms also and give placements to more students and only 30 kids get placement. I expected BIGGER and well-shaped rooms. No AC is the big disadvantage in a 50-degree weather. Furniture is very basic and insufficient. Improper mosquito nets is another disadvantage. The College professors to be properly informed about their subject and should be equipped to answer the questions. Traditional teaching methods and ideology should not be practiced. And project work given should be interesting. Open, nonjudgmental, forward thinking, Smart and super cool kids on campus. The cost of living in the college is not cheap. It's a bit expensive. Language class fees, as well as certificate course fees, are high. However, mess food and beverages are cheap.

The GNLU campus has a unique beauty of its own. With its openly constructed buildings and the right amount of greenery, the campus fails to bore you and adds a tinge of calmness to your mood. The level of academics is decently well and the easily manageable without much pressure. Even the evaluation pattern has been fairly distributed and is not solely based on marks secured in examinations. The mooting culture is an excellent and great encouragement and guidance are provided to beginners to ace mooting. The success of the same has been proved by the growing number of achievements in various moot court competitions across the globe. As one gets exposure to mooting and writing papers, the environment in GNLU makes sure that you don't lose what you got with you. Extra-curricular activities are equally promoted and so are sports. Bodies like the Debating Society and the Quizzing Circuit hold regular debates and quizzes, while the Music Club and Dance Club organize Acoustic Nights and Footloose. Discussions on burning issues are held by way of weekly Critique sessions. The college thus in a way provides a platform for one to excel academically while not losing the passion for their hobbies and talents. The hostel experience is one of a kind, just like college life. You get well constructed big rooms that mostly have a scenic view of the farms adjacent to the college. The placements are fairly good with most of the top-tier firms recruiting students from the 4th and 5th years on an annual basis and the numbers only go up each year. My favorite thing about GNLU has to be the people here. From the faculty to the helping staff, to your batchmates and seniors. The student crowd at GNLU is a fine blend of intellect and humility. One can expect to have the most light-hearted and silly conversations to the most random or intellectually stimulating conversations with the same set of people over the five-year span that you get to spend here. The seniors are always there to help you without any issues or clashes, be it projects, academics, moots, or life in general. Another great thing about the college is that it treats both the genders equally, be it the curfew time or not wearing shorts in the Administrative Block and Library during college hours. Although this is a very small thing but it as far as I have observed it has helped develop a healthy and less sexist environment in the college. The college thus promotes open- mindedness and independence and helps one grow both as a student and as an individual.

The college tops when it comes to infrastructure, location and level of exposure. The college has ample opportunities for a student to streamline his interest and go on with it. The student bodies are highly active in bringing out the best among the students both intellectually and culturally. The faculty is decent. The level of commitment is commendable. The amenities foster the overall development of a student. the college has a progressive report card when it comes to placements both on and off the campus. the scholarship programs by the college are quite rewarding too.

GNLU in a nutshell

Maitreya
Posted on 31 Aug' 16 by Maitreya
Batch of 2020 | BA LLB Hons
GNLU’s one of the premier National Law-schools of the country; (the statistical data does show it). Being a visually impaired student, when I first thought of appearing for CLAT, the first and foremost concern was the level of cooperation I would have expected from the University I would have joined. GNLU was indeed at par to my expectations in the areas I had the most concerns-infrastructure accessibility, safety, security, equal opportunities, amongst others. If I would be asked to mention one best feature of GNLU, it is surely the level of equality they’ve maintaining for these many years. A level playing field, which is equal for all, is always the most opportunistic feature for any perspiring lawyer. Whether be it the mooting, academics, or extra-curricular, everyone’s in the process, with the cooperation of each and all. Situated in a cozy setting of the suburban Gandhinagar, it gives one the perfect peace to work in the many complications that laws give us. The campus, being far better than any University of the country in its infrastructural facilities, is dear to me for its safety and security. Instead of praising or criticizing too much, I believe in having a clear picture in mind. Whether my University caters to my needs as a law-student? A law-student is said to have excelled in all kinds of social engineerings. The needs referred to just above won’t be limited to books, journals, moots, or to how many Judges, Advocates, or corporate firms come to the campus. It is actually something big, something beyond to our limited materialistic vision. If my University’s maintaining discipline by having a curfew-time, at the same time allowing students to use the library until midnight, won’t it be called a balanced approach? Or when the faculties and administration are free from clutches of orthodoxy, and encouragement for underprivileged communities is given, won’t that be called a perfect infrastructure? According to me, it is always better to see a disabled student ranking at the top than to have air-conditioned hostels in a University. The standards to be set are perceptive and are highly diversified. The faculties of GNLU are not the best of course, and I won’t say they are because it is always good to accept realities. However the efforts they make in improving the standard of academics is always praiseworthy. Being a national law school, the student-quality is always the refined one, the refinement that CLAT gives them. A highly intellectual student community, with an always abiding goal of cooperation amongst various cultures they come from, is the situation I can best describe in GNLU. However, there’s always another side to the coin. We do have cultural shocks that are experienced by most students because of the diversified environments experienced at GNLU. A cut-throat competition that exists in every law-school gets hiked with the extra-intellectual class of students, however as said, the standards are perceptive. With regards to placements, it does receive exposures to top-tier law firms, however, if litigating and corporate firms from different tiers are brought down to the campus, it would cater the employment thirst of the different class of students. Although one surely wants one’s University to be better with the placements or faculty-standards, it would be better to see the filled glass instead of the empty part.

1.The state of art infrastructure of GNLU is beyond description. The entrance of the college is breathtaking and one can easily take it for a foreign university. The college provides an excellent 4-floor library, well-furnished hostels, 24*7 wifi in the entire campus, 2 canteens, provision store, medical facilities, gym, fully air conditioned campus and excellent sports facilities i.e., Football ground, Cricket ground, basketball and tennis courts as well as different indoor games. 2. GNLU already provides us with various facilities for better exposure i.e., internship breaks, court visits, field trips, expert lectures as well as the availability of a counselor for the students. 3. Being one of the best Law universities in the country, GNLU has effectively managed to provide its students with state of the art academic, co curricular and extra curricular facilities. From a 3 floored library which is open till 12 am to an equal opportunity cell, GNLU has everything that an aspiring lawyer would ever need. What I personally like about GNLU is its holistic approach to education, bringing about the right balance between academic and non academic activities. I got the opportunity to join many of the wide range of committees and academic centres based on my choice. We have an absolutely amazing batch of seniors who are friendly and always approachable( seriously, any time.) and a very good staff team who are always there to cater to our needs. Overall, its been an amazing experience, and I am definitely looking forward to having more.

GNLU is a good college for law and gives a decent exposure of outside world. The Seniors here are not open to conversation with juniors. There is a kind of cold war between the batches. The College life can be a bit more exciting if they host more cultural events. Hostel here needs to be air conditioned as Gujarat is a semi arid region and people can literally die because of the heat.

Gujarat National Law University’s campus is equipped with state-of-the-art moot court rooms, classroom, and library which provide the students of its college an enriching environment in which they can hone their legal skills. The law faculty is always responsive to the queries of the students. When the student is dissatisfied with the faculty he/she can choose to review the performance of the faculty at the end of the year through feedback forms and the college takes action is taking accordingly. Unlike several other colleges I have been to, Gujarat National Law University offers great mess food which is updated regularly to meet demands. All the top law firms, CAM, SAM, Trilegal, Khaitan etc. come to our college. After three years in this college, I am very proud to declare myself a GNLUite.

A good environment to kick starts your legal career. Conducive environment for studies, mooting and extra curriculars. Cosmo crowd and lot of opportunities for attending summer schools and such. The downside would be the geographical location. For more info and detailed reviews about this college, please visit the blog Ergo.

A platform that will definitely help you grow

Gujarat National Law University offers you opportunities not only in the field of law but it also encourages participation in moot, sports, dance, theatre, debates, quiz, MUN. Pentagram is the University's cultural fest and Justice league is the University's sports fest. University has a very good infrastructure. The library is one of the finest that an Indian law college has and grants access not only to books but also to online legal databases. The University organizes various certificate courses from time to time with experienced and specialised guest lecturers from even outside the country. The faculty is very dedicated and is extremely supportive and helpful to the students. The University has an equal opportunity cell and there are various scholarships available for the ones who cannot afford the fees. The placements are decent but not the best. The hostel life is very lively. Gym facilities are also available for boys and girls. The students are served 4 meals a day and the mess food is better than the mess food in most Universities. Also, if you raise queries, they take them into consideration and come up with a solution. Overall it's a great University to study in.

Brilliant Infrastructure with Variety in Education

The college's infrastructure is brilliant for a law university. Recently, the college has also introduced MBA and LLM courses as well. It has a common mess for boys and girls and huge ground in the middle. Mess food is usually good, but non-vegetarians would face problems as non-veg food is provided only twice a week for dinner. However, there are food joints nearby from where you can order delicious food - veg or non-veg. A lot of exposure is provided in terms of fest, certificate courses, moot court competition etc. Students have the freedom to participate in any or all of them and are given various opportunities to represent the college and hone their skills. Opportunities are given on merit basis and potential of the student. Reimbursements for debates, moots etc is also provided so that financial affordability does not hold the student back. Placements have seen a rise in the past and so has the mooting culture. The college recently won the National Rounds of Jessup to qualify to the World Rounds and won the 5th Best Speaker at the world rounds as well. The faculty is decent. For a National Law University, the standard of professors should be improved. The administration takes adequate measures to make life comfortable for students and provides various facilities and prompt repair work at the hostel. The college is affordable for the kind of facilities it provides; among all the NLUs, this is one of the least expensive.

Come, breathe in a bit of Gujarat

Honestly, GNLU is a good place to be in. This is something that I have come to terms with after spending almost three years here. It's an affordable college, considering it falls in the category of National Law Schools which take students based on CLAT, which is conducted in rotation every year. The fee varies each year but has never been more than Rs. 1 lakh 80 thousand, for every academic year i.e. two semesters. We have a really beautiful campus, a combination of greenery and modernity. We have a three floored library with a vast variety of books dealing with all possible subjects (and even competitive exams). Our sports facilities are amazing, with a huge football field, two tennis courts and basketball courts. In comparison to a lot of hostels that I have personally been to, GNLU does provide you with a lot in terms of hostel facilities, be it single occupancy or attached washrooms (this is limited to the girl's hostel) and hot water every day. When I did come to live here, I had heard a lot about how bad the hostel food can be, in general, but GNLU offers really good food (and no, not everything is sweet here, quite to the contrary) which ranges from Pani Puri to Vadapav to Pasta to Dhokla. Another thing that is noteworthy about my campus is that it is earthquake proof, owing to the Bhuj earthquake in 2000. Our teachers are considerably experienced and well versed with their subjects. They are approachable and always ready to help you with anything. They encourage us to take up activities like research paper writing and actively participating in assisting them in various courses and projects that they undertake. I am not too sure about the placement statistics because I haven't come across anything in particular as such but I do know of a lot of seniors getting jobs at amazing places and those who did go to prestigious institutions for further studies. Our Placement division also helps us with internship opportunity and any other documents we need to obtain an internship. We have a Committee for Recruitment Affairs which is constituted by the senior most batch on college and a Preparatory CRA and Pre-Preparatory CRA to help with placements and internships, organizing of day zero, etc. The CRA also takes up activities like the orientation of the junior batches on how to obtain internships, CV making, etc. This place is always buzzing with some or the other activity, be it the moots, or the sports competitions, karaoke nights, screening of matches or concerts, our college fest Pentagram or acoustic nights and dance events like footloose. We conduct two moots every year, a national one called GNLUMSIL and an international one called GIMC. Also, fun fact, we were accredited with an A as per NAAC. We have a national sports fest called the Justice League organized by the Sports Committee. Then, there's Pentagram where the party does not end for a week and we've had artists like Salim-Sulaiman, Indian Ocean, KK, Prateek Kuhad, etc. and comedians like Kenny Sebastian and Biswa. And since we happen to be in Gujarat, there happens to be a Garba Night organized during the Navratri period, in the college itself and the college provides for transportation and passes at a concessional rate for Garba Nights at other colleges. The college essentially has three primary committees - the Moot Court Committee, which organizes moot courts at the university, national and international level; the Legal Services Committee, which is involved in awareness drives, blood donation camps, working with NGOs and pro bono work and the Student Activities Committee which organizes our annual fest, Pentagram, the Garba Nights and several other events as all clubs i.e. the Music Club, the Dance Club, the Drama Club fall within SAC. In addition to this, we have an Academic Support Program to cope with the academic pressure, GNLU MUN Society which recently did organize the first National GNLUMUN and our very own in-house magazine for students called Jury’s Out. We also have centers which range from Centre for Constitutional Law to Centre of Sports and Entertainment Law in order to keep us busy throughout the day, with research work and working on significant developments in all fields. We also have a bi-annual Journal called the GNLU Journal of Law, Development, and Politics which invites and publishes papers from all over India. Our examination process is quite well designed where we have 20 marks for a project or a group discussion, 30 marks for mid-semester test and a 50 mark end semester paper for each subject. We have a semester system where each semester, other than the last two have 6 subjects and the curriculum is well designed. But above all, the reason why I love my despite all the above-mentioned things is the people who study here - ever mentoring and always helpful Seniors who are literally life saviors, batch mates who make attending classes fun and are such a great crowd that I don't for once feel that I am out of place and the juniors, who are always ready to help and assist and can be bullied to do work (not really). I really do like my college, despite the curfew timings of 10, or the campus being in the middle of nowhere or a number of insects we need to battle every day. Yes, my college isn't the best there is or some world class university but it is getting there and I am really happy to be here, contributing in every way I can. After all, despite being in Gujarat (and having relatively high domiciled seats), this place can't be any more cosmopolitan and not Gujarati than it already is.
