MA Economics at NBU Offline Course

Master of Arts (MA) in Economics is a full-time two years duration course and it is offered by the University of North Bengal, Siliguri.

M.A. Economics: Intake-75. This course currently comprises 1600 marks. 1200 marks allocated for written examinations spread across 4th Semesters, 400 marks are allotted to Continuing Internal Evaluation, comprising Group Discussion (40  marks), Viva-voce (40 marks) and Term Paper (80 marks), and Internal Class  Tests (240 marks). The M.A. Economics course was last revised in 2008 in the light of the U.G.C. Model Curriculum and the Semester System that has been introduced since September 2008. The Syllabus provides rigorous coverage of  core papers in Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomics and Monetary Theory,  History of Economic Thought and Public Economics, Macro-Dynamics (Theories of  Economic Growth and Trade Cycles), Economic Planning and Policy, Indian  Economic Policy and Performance, Economics of Growth, Economics of Development,  International Trade and Finance, Economics of Social Sector and Infrastructure,  tool papers in Statistics and Mathematical Economics; and elective  specializations in Agricultural Economics, Econometrics with Computer  Applications, Labour Economics, Industrial Economics, Economics of Gender and  Development, Resource and Environmental Economics, Demography and Human  Population Studies, and Advanced International Economics. At present only four specializations are being offered.
