Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Metallurgical and Material Engineering is a four-year (8 semesters) full-time undergraduate  program offered by the Department Metallurgical and Material Engineering at National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur.

 The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was amongst the four branches with which the institute was initially launched in 1960, with increasing focus on :

  • Materials Technology
  • Foundry Technology
  • Iron & Steel
  • Nanotechnology
  • Mineral Benefaction

and the R&D work being carried out in these fields in the metallurgical sector, Materials Engineering was included in the curriculum of the department in 1995.There are M.Tech course on Materials Technology & Foundry Technology.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one  of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.

Admission Details

The admission to the under graduate programmes is made on the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying examination and in the JEE (Main). The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) / Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) allocates the seats for Under Graduate Programmes through Common Counseling process.

NIT Jamshedpur comes under one of the good NITs

College Infrastructure

A huge campus sprawling over an area of around 300 acres. Lecture halls are nice and spacious, with air conditioned rooms, with smartboard facilities. Labs are good and the campus has a lot of greenery.

Infrastructure was almost Satisfied. The Classrooms, toilets, campus, Overall are Properly located with Proper paint. Classroom are all filled with proper benches and desks. There is excellent library facilities and proper Rooms are clean.

I had best of the experiences in 4 years of my college life.

NIT Jamshedpur has all the necessary infrastructure and facilities for the overall development of its students. Laboratories are well- equipped with modern lab apparatus and technologies. Top notch sports facilities .
