AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was founded in 1985 and is acknowledged by both the Dental Council of India and the Malaysian Dental Council. ABSMIDS Mangalore is a constituent college of NITTE University, Mangalore. AB Shetty Dental College has been awarded a Grade 'A+' accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

ABSMIDS in Mangalore offers dental courses at both UG and PG levels. The UG programme is a BDS programme for class 12 passed-out students, while the PG programme offers MDS programmes in various disciplines such as Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. The fee for the BDS programme is Rs 20.14 lakhs and the MDS programme fee ranges from Rs 6.32 lakhs to Rs 30.32 lakhs.

ABSMIDS Mangalore accepts students for the undergraduate BDS programme based on their NEET-UG score and All India Rank. Similarly, For admission to the ABSMIDS MDS programme, candidates need to qualify for the NEET-MDS examination. Only after clearing the AB Shetty Dental College cutoff, candidates are allotted seats at the College.

ABSMIDS offers various amenities such as hostels, a cafeteria, a library with air conditioning, a gymnasium, and more.
