Asansol Institute of Engineering and Management, also known as AIEM, is a relatively recently established institute under Asansol in 2015. The AICTE-approved institution offers diploma courses catering to various branches in engineering. The campus extends to a size of 1 acres, with a total student enrolment of 760 and a faculty strength of 25. It offers 12 courses in various specialisations, all covered through full-time diploma programs. The AIEM concerns itself with offering quality technical education to aspiring engineers within the region.

The campus is fully facilitated in all respects so that students feels themselves at personality traits. In this regard, separate hostels for boys and girls are available on campus, making it easier and more comfortable for students who come from outside the city. There is a standby power generator, which manages power failures to ensure uninterrupted study and living conditions. Student health is of utmost priority at AIEM, and so the institute offers on-campus medicare facilities supported by a qualified doctor and ties-up with a local hospital for advanced treatment. The college library is a domain of academic sources having more than 3,200 volumes, with more than 400 titles. It is managed through LIBSYS software for the efficient dispensation of services. AIEM has sports - basketball, badminton courts, and a gym - for the physical well-being and recreation of the students. It has an IT infrastructure well maintained to cater to modern learning requirements. A cafeteria is quite a social place for the students. There is also an auditorium with a seating capacity of 600 people to conduct programs, events, and cultural performances.

There are 12 courses, and all these courses are full-time diploma courses. The institute offers a mix of regular diploma courses and lateral entry in various disciplines in engineering.                                                                                          

Admission Procedure to AIEM is mostly done through the all-India level Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnic of West Bengal, JEXPO. Most students are admitted to various diploma courses in AIEM through this joint entrance exam. AIEM offers lateral entry options in many programs, opening an opportunity to the students with relevant qualifications joining the diploma courses in the second year.
