BES College of Law, which was started in the year 1998, is an affiliated college situated in Bangalore. Located in a prime area of South Bangalore, spread over a small area of 4.7 acres, this institution has been producing legal professionals for the last 21 years. Affiliated with the Bar Council of India (BCI), BES College of Law provides two extensive programmes in law to a 316-strong student population interested in a legal career. Out of 177 students, there are 7 faculty members which including 4 male and 3 female members, which helps maintain a healthy student-teacher ratio necessary for quality education of Law.
As of the amenities offered by BES College of Law in an effort to make students’ experiences as pleasant as possible, the facilities include. A library is well stocked for a school endowed with legal education to equip students with rich knowledge of the various literature and resources available. For the students who need shelter, the college has provided a hostel to cater for this service and provide comfortable accommodation. The campus also has strong support in IT and informs the students of the latest technologies in the law.
BES College of Law, Bangalore, is affiliated with the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). This affiliation ensures that the college follows the prescribed curriculum and maintains standards for legal education in India. For the purpose of striving towards a comprehensive human development model, BES College of Law has facilities for sports and games for the overall development of the students. The college canteen performs a social function as well as provides the students with food and drinks to help them recuperate in between classes. Extra facilities for a big group, an auditorium is present, which is used for conducting seminars, guest lectures, cultural programmes, etc., that add value to the educational process.
BES College of Law currently offers two full-time law programmes: a 3-year LLB course and a 5-year integrated course with centres offering Bachelor of Arts with the Bachelor of Laws (BA LLB Integrated). The LLB programme contains an approved intake of sixty scholars, so students can benefit from a focused educational experience. There is no clear information on the intake for the BA LLB integrated programme, though both courses provide the students with comprehensive knowledge of legal systems and processes. These programmes meet different student needs. The LLB as a course is designed for graduates who have a first degree in any other field and wish to pursue law as a profession, while the integrated BA LLB programme takes a more holistic approach by introducing the law component right from the undergraduate level, while at the same offering liberal arts education.
The intake policy at BES College of Law strictly follows the standards of the state government in Karnataka State in regard to admissions based on merit. This helps to minimise biases when selecting students to join the LLB and also the BA LLB Integrated programme.
