Besant Women’s College, Mangalore, that was started in the year 1977, is an affiliated college which is situated at Kodialbail Mangalore Karnataka. The NAAC accredited institution offer various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Located on an area of about 1.02 acres, this college has a total of 1,020 students and has incredible female student enrolment of 99.8%. The institute uses 56 faculty members and offers 10 courses through 7 programmes in Commerce, Computer Applications, Food Science and Nutrition, and Home Science disciplines.

As part of its infrastructures,Besant Women’s College has to support the teaching and learning process of its students. This extensive access library holds over 42,253 books and forms an essential component of the learning process. The institution also consists of gym and other sporting amenities, and an auditorium for other co-curricular activities. The institute also offers full time courses for degree across its different faculties and here the major faculties are Commerce science and Arts. M.Com programme has sanctioned intake of 140 students and M.Sc Food Science and Nutrition programme has 30 sanctioned intake seats. 

Admission to Besant Women’s College is free and open for any person any academic calendar year. For under graduate programmes, the candidates should have passed pre-university course examination or any other examination which has been recognised by the Mangalore University. The process of admission of candidates in the college is the same for postgraduate as well but may have certain differences programme to programme. The college takes into account the results of the qualifying tests. It shows its multicultural aspect as there are 17 percent of out of state students in the college. This percentage decreases to 20% for post graduate programmes while the college has progressively expanded its outreach beyond Karnataka states with a 30% percentage.
