The Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College, Rajahmundry, also referred to as BVCEC, was established in 1997. It is the most revered learning institution. This affiliated college spreads over a vast 35.61-acre campus at Palacharla, Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh. There are 14 courses offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of engineering. The institute offers a wide range of engineering programmes through 7 B.Tech and 7 M.Tech courses. All the undergraduate programmes are full-time for 4 years. The college has remarkable emphasis on emerging technologies with specialisations like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The sanctioned intake for all the B.Tech programmes is 60 to 180 seats per course, while all M.Tech programmes normally accommodate 18 seats each. This variety of courses offered enables students to specialise in an area of interest, thus matching up with the various career aspirations engineering graduates may have.

Admission at BVCEC has been so structured that the selection process is fair and merit-based. For B Tech programmes, 70 per cent of seats in Category A are filled-up by merit rank secured by the candidates in the respective entrance tests- EAMCET or JEE while 30 percent of remaining seats in Category B are filled-up on a merit basis and those from other states, Union Territories and NRI sponsored students. This two-tier admission system automatically leads to a mixed student body composition with both local and outstation students. This college accepts scores from some of the prominent national-level entrance exams, including the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) and the Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET).
