Chitkara University’s B.Sc in OT & AT is the total package: practical, hands-on experience; expert faculty; industry endorsed curriculum; internship in real world setting; and graduates who get jobs. Our B.Sc in OT & AT has been designed to ensure that the candidate gains adequate expertise to be a part of the surgical team. The industry aligned curriculum prepares the technician to be fully conversant with the functioning of the operation theatre and the surgical procedures undertaken in the Operation Theatre (OT). They are trained to maintain the OT equipment and instruments, check the infection control practices and status of sterilisation of the OT and also ensure its smooth functioning. A trained OT technician is therefore the most important element of the surgical team.

During this 4-year full-time program, apart from gaining a solid base in theory, the student also experiences hands-on learning in each discipline of the Operation Theatre and, under supervision, learns in-depth about pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative areas. A student in the clinical phase of training usually works 40 hours per week for 52 weeks, experiencing work as a full-time employee. Thus, when the students graduate, they are completely ready to hit the ground running.
