36 MonthsThe Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery programme includes a three-year course and one year training as a junior staff nurse. The core subjects in the first year include Biological Sciences, Behavioural Science, Nursing Foundations inclusive of Bioethics, Community Health Nursing, English, and Computer Education. The subjects in the second year include Medical-Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Child Health Nursing. The subjects in third year include Midwifery and Gynaecological Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Nursing Education, Research, Professional Trends and Adjustments, Nursing Administration, and Ward Management. Students appear for examinations conducted by the Board of Nursing Education of the Nurses' League, Christian Medical Association of India, South India Branch (BNESIB, NL CMAI) at the end of each year during the course. The Diploma is awarded by the BNESIB, NL CMAI, and is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
Eligibility for Admission
1. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination (10 +2) from any recognized board. Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) is preferable.
2. English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission.
3. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
4. For those who have completed ANM / MPHW programme, candidates must have 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from a school recognized by Indian Nursing Council or should be a registered ANM with pass mark.
