M.Sc Biostatistics at CMC Vellore Offline Course

The Department of Biostatistics offers a unique environment to pursue education in statistical science and to engage in consultation services within the medical college. It has one of the longest history of biostatistical graduate education in the country since 1986. The MSc Biostatistics course involves training in biostatistical principles, data analytical techniques, and research methodology for studies in medicine and public health. In addition to the courses, students will be mentored to provide statistical consultations and undertake a research project (thesis) to work on research problems from the field of biostatistics. Upon the completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to undergo a six-month internship in the department to provide hands-on experience and develop transferable skills. The course will provide exposure to range of biostatistical methods and their applications that allow students to develop their own specialized interest areas for future studies, work and career.

Career paths following completion of this course include continuation into a PhD degree, joining academic institution, government research agencies, pharmaceutical industries, contract research organizations , and scientific research and development services.
