PGT Shillong boasts a very good name for teacher training in Meghalaya. Affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, PGT Shillong's admission procedure is strict, along with the physical and mental involvement of the students, so as to select and train the best for the teaching profession. PGT Shillong retains control of the admission process through a duly constituted Board appointed by the College Governing Body, thus ensuring bona fide and just selection procedures. The college employs a two-stage evaluation procedure which takes into consideration many parameters while allowing the admitted students to meet the expected high standards envisioned for future educators.
The written component is one of the two stages involved in the PGT Shillong admission process. This is essentially a subject-oriented test on scholastic ability and teaching aptitude in various areas of the education profession. The written test is an initial screening to identify those with a level of scholarship adequate to meet the assessment, which has been set up for them with respect to their foundation and the potential to be excellent teachers by PGT Shillong. Candidates who clear the written examination are called for the next stage, that is, the personal interview. In this type of interview, candidates are scrutinised in a burning fire of admission committees for communication skills, motivation, and overall suitability for the teaching profession. It is also an opportunity for candidates to show their excitement about education and their views on the challenges and social responsibilities involved in the teaching profession.
Admissions at PGT Shillong follow an elaborate procedure suitable for all the qualified students. The following is a stepwise procedure for the application.
