      PGT Shillong Admission Process

PGT Shillong boasts a very good name for teacher training in Meghalaya. Affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, PGT Shillong's admission procedure is strict, along with the physical and mental involvement of the students, so as to select and train the best for the teaching profession. PGT Shillong retains control of the admission process through a duly constituted Board appointed by the College Governing Body, thus ensuring bona fide and just selection procedures. The college employs a two-stage evaluation procedure which takes into consideration many parameters while allowing the admitted students to meet the expected high standards envisioned for future educators.

The written component is one of the two stages involved in the PGT Shillong admission process. This is essentially a subject-oriented test on scholastic ability and teaching aptitude in various areas of the education profession. The written test is an initial screening to identify those with a level of scholarship adequate to meet the assessment, which has been set up for them with respect to their foundation and the potential to be excellent teachers by PGT Shillong. Candidates who clear the written examination are called for the next stage, that is, the personal interview. In this type of interview, candidates are scrutinised in a burning fire of admission committees for communication skills, motivation, and overall suitability for the teaching profession. It is also an opportunity for candidates to show their excitement about education and their views on the challenges and social responsibilities involved in the teaching profession.

      PGT Shillong Application Process

Admissions at PGT Shillong follow an elaborate procedure suitable for all the qualified students. The following is a stepwise procedure for the application.

      • Notification: Admission notification has nearly always been on its official website and in local newspapers, indicating the start of the process for admissions into the B.Ed programme.
      • Application Form: The candidate must complete the official application form and fill it out. The form could either be downloaded from the college website or could be bought from the college office.
      • Submission of Documents: Along with the completed application form, candidates must attach the needed documents
      • Submission of Application: All completed application forms with all the required documents and application fees must be submitted to the college office within the stipulated timeframe.
      • Admit card: Admit cards will be issued by the college on successful receipt and verification of applications to the students qualifying for the written examination.
      • Written examination: Candidates appear for the written test on a date prescribed. Generally, the examination would test a candidate's general knowledge, teaching aptitude, and knowledge of particular subjects.
      • Declaration of Results: The college publishes the list of candidates who have cleared the written examinations and are qualified to appear in the personal interview process.
      • Personal Interview: Candidates shortlisted for the personal interview will report on the scheduled date. They are expected to come with original documents for verification at this point.
      • Final Selection: A final list of selected candidates is prepared purely based on a composite measure of performance in the written and interview processes.
      • Regarding confirmation of admission, the newly selected candidates are required to confirm their admission by payment of the prescribed admission fees along with the submission of required documents within the stipulated time after the publication of the final selected candidates.
