The Crescent School of Business in Chennai is a new institution, but its roots go back much further. It has an urban campus at the heart of the capital city of Tamil Nadu. It comes under the banner of the BS Abdur Rahman University, to which its courses are also affiliated. It has now been renamed as the BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST), established in 1984. The full- fledged university status was achieved in the year 2009. The college is named after Shri B.S. Abdur Rahman, who was a noted Tamilian businessman and philanthropist.
As the other courses are run by the other group colleges, so the Crescent School of Business has a single- programme focus towards management education. Towards this, it runs the UGC (University Grants Commission) approved PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). Admissions to this programme is via the usual nationally or state- wise accepted entrance exams such as CAT, CMAT, MAT and TANCET. The concept of Professional Mentorship is one that has been successfully adopted here. Students get attached to industry experts within their career areas for personalized sessions. The Chennai location helps, as the city is a magnet for global and top national corporates.
Research is another key area at the Crescent School of Business in Chennai. A lot of this research that takes place on campus also get published on the journals and newsletters originating from here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute.
