Doctor of Pharmacy or D Pharma is a professional pre-Ph.D. It is a six year course. Students enrolled for the course are required to complete five years of classroom and hospital based didactic study programme, followed by one year of internship training in hospitals along with ongoing practicals and research projects.

Being the only pharmacy service, which is in direct contact with the patient health care system, the Doctor of Pharmacy was introduced with the aim to improve clinical pharmacy services in India.
