Doaba College, Jalandhar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Doaba College is a co-educational institution, established in 1941 at Jalandhar of Punjab, India. This self financed college accredited with NAAC and affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, offers 34 courses in total sixteen degree courses. Situated on a vast 135 acre land, the college comprises of total students of 1551 and total faculty strength is 72. Doaba College offers a number of courses for students passing out of high school or graduates and post graduates in arts, science, commerce and computer aplicactions. The institute enroll both genders in equal proportion with 55% of the students being male while the remaining 45% being female.

Doaba College offers a number of modren and sophisticated amenities that definitely augments a student’s learning experience. There are well-developed laboratories, a well-stocked library with several books of over 73000 capacity and availability of several e-journal services and 228 computers and internet facilities. Separate hostels for boys and girls: comfortable accommodation with all modern facilities for students. The college also has ample organised playground, outdoor sports facility such as football field, hockey ground, cricket ground and Olympicsize indoor multipurpose playing hall and swimming pool, which kindle the talents of the students in various games and sports activities. Medical dispensary, cafeteria, and banking services which include an on-campus branch with ATM are among a few among other needs of the students.

The college also boasts of diverse specialization areas with 34 courses within the School of Commerce and Management Studies. These are 16 undergraduate, 11 postgraduate, and 7 diploma and certificate programs. In this regard, the college offers full time and part time programs in order to capture the peculiar needs students may have. With a total student intake of 1,551, Doaba College ensures a conducive learning environment with a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 22:1. Recently in the most academic year the college recorded high number of successful graduates this is due to effort of the college in academic achievement and success of the students.

Admission process In most of the courses, the Doaba College follows the merit based admission. The college offers many undergraduate and postgraduate programs and these applications are open mostly during summer session. Even though exact quantitative values of certain exams are not given, the college probably references the performance on qualifying examinations pertinent to certain courses. Doaba College is committed in providing scholarships for deserving students, majority of the students receive some form of scholarship. Thus in the 2023 academic year 304 students out of 1, 257 students in 3-year UG programs and 44 students out of 160 students in 4-year UG programs were reimbursed. The college’s alumni association, known as DCJAA, constantly encourages current students through different activities such as giving scholarships and help with jobs. The famous filmmaker Yash Chopra who had also been associated with the college died in October 2012, he has been a benefactor for the college.
