Dr. Birinchi Kumar Barooah College, Puranigudam, is a co-educational college. It was established in 1967 by the people of Nagaon, Assam. It is a very wide-ranging affiliated college with undergraduate courses in probably every stream out there. This college has an overall land area of 2.2 acres, with an overall student body of 1,508 and a teaching staff strength of 42 member's, featuring a multi-dimensional education system, offering 17 diverse subject courses for learning, belonging to 6 distinct degree programmes, of which 498 males and 508 females overall strength at the undergraduate level is ensured for equal participation.

The institution is dedicated to providing students with a suitable learning environment, offering a bunch of facilities. It has a well-stocked library with almost ten thousand volumes of texts and reference books, subscribed to national and regional newspapers, journals, and periodicals.
