The Uttar Pradesh government offers various scholarships for students. These scholarships are both central government-funded and state government-funded. A student is eligible for only one scholarship. Before applying for a scholarship, the candidate must meet the eligibility criteria. Different scholarships are being offered to different categories of students. If the student does not match the eligibility of the scholarship, their application will be rejected. There is a dedicated website of the Uttar Pradesh government that has the complete scholarship information. Students are advised to visit the website- scholarship.up.gov.in.

The scholarship and fee reimbursement online system of the UP government has the following steps -

1. Registration: An applicant has to register themselves first on the website.

2. Aadhar Authentication: Next comes the Aadhar authentication of the applicant

3. Form Submission: The applicant has to fill out the application form with complete and authentic details.

4. Verification from Institutions: All the details provided will be verified by the college.

5. Scrutiny: The documents provided will be verified and if the application is found to be true it will further be verified at the district welfare office.

6. Aadhar-based fund disbursement: The last and final step would be the Aadhar-based disbursement.

There is another post-matric scheme known as the SAKSHAM scheme by the UP government that allows the residents of Uttar Pradesh with an annual income of less than ₹2 Lakhs for OBC, Minority, and General category and ₹2.5 Lakhs for category SC/ST to be given an allowance monthly. 

The central government scholarships are as follows-

• SC/ST Post Matric Scholarship

• Minority Students Post Matric Scholarship

• Merit-cum-means Scholarship

• Ex-Servicemen Children Scholarship

• PWD Scholarship

• Construction Labor Welfare Fund Scholarship

These are online Schemes and one can apply for a fresh or renewal Scholarship under any of these Schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in. For the MCM scholarship, the link to the Portal is also provided on the website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, i.e. www.minorityaffairs.gov.in. In case of Renewal of Scholarship for the next academic year, the applicant has to provide a certificate that she/he has secured 50% marks in the previous year’s examination, pursued from the same institution.
