Haldia Institute of Dental Sciences and Research was established in the year 2007 and is one of the most prestigious educational institutions for dental sciences in Purba Medinipur. The Institute has total number of faculty member is 119. The campus is located over 5 acres, and this affiliated college has been approved by the DCI to provide quality dental education.
HIDSAR is supported by a state-of-the-art array of infrastructural facilities for its educational mission. The institute has an individual boys' and girls' hostel, well equipped to provide comfort and peace in running a host of activities. It consists of common rooms equipped with televisions and indoor game facilities. There is a state-of-the-art 8000 sq. ft. library, serving as the knowledge hub with more than 4,390 books, 71 Indian and foreign journals, access to EBSCO online journals, etc. The learning process is also enriched by a digital library with the aid of Integrated Library Management Software, LIBSYS. For practical training, it has well-equipped laboratories having single workstation facilities with cabinet drawers, gas, centrally compressed air, and rotary instruments. The campus has a health centre, sport facilities, canteen, auditorium for any events, seminars, and others.
It provides all sorts of dental courses: one under graduate and seven post graduate programs in different MDS specialities.

Admission to HIDSAR is strictly based on merit, comprising a well-structured procedure as per the policy. The BDS course has 50% of its seats under State Government quota and the rest 50% under management quota. Admissions are made through counselling by the State Government considering only those students who have qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.
