The Hallmark Business School (HBS) is located in the city of Tiruchirappalli, which is in Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 2008, and runs on an urban campus spanning three acres of land. It has been affiliated to the Chennai- based Anna University. This affiliation ensures approval from the UGC (University Grants Commission). The college models itself as the practical business school. This is because the HBS provides an atmosphere for immersive learning, using hands- on an approach, rather than merely going through theoretical texts.
The HBS is solely dedicated to management education. For this, it provides the two- year MBA programme. It can here be availed only for the area of General Management. This is because the Hallmark Business School strongly believes in developing all- round managerial skills. Under this scheme, students go through all major subject areas, before deciding on there are of choice in the second year during their summer internship. The students enrolled, may opt for specialising from the areas of- Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management (HRM), Operations Management (OM) and in Systems Management. A dual specialization may be opted for.
Single specializations are only available in the areas of- Infrastructure & Real Estate Management and for Logistics & Supply Chain Management. Admissions to any branch of the MBA is via any of the nationally or internationally recognized entrance exams such as CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test), TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test), or ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions). Post the results of the CAT being declared, shortlisted students need to appear for the PI (Personal Interview)- WAT (Written Ability Test) round. Students may even go for individual domain certifications, that are available on campus. They are also free to choose memberships of professional bodies within the city or outside, if they desire so.
The HBS pays much importance to the digitization in business. This is the reason for several software suites being part of the curriculum especially in OM. These are especially on for SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and advanced Excel. Research also forms a key part of life at the Tiruchirappalli - based Hallmark Business School. For this reason, the college twice a year publishes a research journal. It is known as the HBS International Journal of Management Review. This has been in publication since the year 2014. A lot of the research conducted on campus gets chronicled in here. There is also the HBS Newsletter. This is more of a student- driven initiative, unlike the faculty led in the former.
Industry visits and interaction with external experts is also a regular feature here. This eventually leads to positive figures when it comes to the time of the campus placements. There are co- curricular clubs here known as the – Finance Casino Club, Rendezvous Human Resource Club and the Conaro Marketing Club. There is also the Muthamil Mudaram that takes care of all extra- curricular art, dance and music forms. Several fun events are held on campus. There was a recent drive against food waste. Another area of much importance to the institute is entrepreneurship. This is why the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development has been an active forum here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute. Experienced trainers and entrepreneurs are invited to campus to deliver guest lectures and interact with those who have such business models.
The campus infrastructure is also quite good. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Banking facilities with ATM, convenience stores and access to public transport may all be availed just outside the college campus. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
