      Academics

I’m studying MBBS to become a doctor. Teachers here are well experienced and the subject content is taught well. Doubts are cleared instantly. The college has been accustomed to the new curriculum and any new development is shared instantly.

      College Infra

My college has all the infrastructure, facilities and equipments necessary for a person to study MBBS. We have well ventilated lecture theatres with varied seating arrangements. Each department has its own laboratories, demo rooms etc. The central library has a huge collection of books, also includes an outer library where you can sit and study without disturbance. We have separate boys and girls hostels with 24x7 security and WiFi. Hostels requires a bit maintenance though.

      Campus Life

The college campus is nice and peaceful. Although there’s not much to do except during the fest season. The fest here is awesome. There’s lots of sporting and cultural events. We have huge football ground. Students, teachers and support staff is very helpful. Although there have been a few obstacles since the past years but the college staff didn’t let it bother the students academically. It is located in the outskirts of Haldia and is well connected by roads. The location is safe and very good.

      Placements

Medical colleges don’t really have any placements. We are required to prepare for pg exams. The success rate of clearing pg exam is this college is average. This year the highest all India rank of a student in NEET PG was 3000

      Value For Money

As I am state quota student, the total cost of Mbbs for me in this college is almost 13 lakhs. Yes I feel I’m getting my money’s worth as compared to other private colleges, this fees is quite low.

      Academics

Being a medical professional course, just theory lectures arent sufficient. They need to be complemented by experience in the ward at the patient's bedside,to inculcate the important aspects of a doctor's career like history taking, followed by reverting to the books to arrive at a differential diagnosis.Theory lectures are good, with ppt presentations, but the gargantuan paucity of patients makes the practical aspect of teaching remain way below par.

      College Infra

Being a private college, the approach of the college management is largely moneymaking. In each MCI Inspection a large number of shortcomings come to light, like shortage of doctors and patients, lack of required medical equipment (like usg machine) and the college pledges to rectify them before the next inspection. Years go by,and so do inspections, sometimes the college qualifies for new admissions, sometimes not,but the crux of the matter remains largely unchanged.

      Campus Life

Students can indulge in studying in the library(though the air-conditioners are sadly malfunctional),use the library computers to download academic stuff or read up what was taught in their last lecture(though the PCs are often misused to access social media or YouTube). In the evenings, some folks are seen snack-ing in the shops just outside the college gates, some are spotted with their fiance/fiancees and some smoking, within or without the campus. There r many armed security guards.Rural ambience

      Placements

In MBBS,there's no direct placement like in,say,B.Tech.The students pass out and either take the MD/MS Entrance exam or go for housestaffship.Housestaffship offers both money and hands-on experience. If one can grab a housestaffship opportunity in a govt college in Kolkata, one should get around 50-55 thousand rupees per month.

      Value For Money

The costs incurred include Rs.2 lakh per annum tuition fees(for 4 and a half years),50 thousand admission fees (one-time),10 thousand library fees and 15 thousand caution money(refundable at the end of the course). In our sector(and I guess even in other professional courses),graduation from private colleges isnt something welcome. The cost is Herculean to bear, but we arent getting something very novel in return.

      Hello,

It's tough to make exact predictions as cut-offs vary every year based on various factors such as

      • total number of candidates appearing for the exam
      • difficulty level of the paper
      • top NEET scores
      • reservation
      • seat matrix, etc..

If we go by last year cut-offs under 85% state quota then
