IGE Kolkata: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Institute of Genetic Engineering Kolkata (IGE Kolkata) was established in 2003. It is one of the first colleges in eastern India to offer courses in genetics and biotechnology.  It is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). IGE Kolkata courses include a mix of UG and PG programmes. The UG programmes include B.Sc courses in biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, medical imaging technology and medical lab technology. It also offers courses in BBA, BBA(HM) BCA and optometry. IGE PG courses include M.Sc courses in genetics, biotechnology, microbiology.

IGE Kolkata admissions are done on the basis of the Common Entrance Test conducted by MAKAUT and also through direct admissions. Aspiring candidates should ensure to meet the IGE Kolkata eligibility criteria before applying to the institute. IGE Kolkata facilities include spacious classrooms equipped with audio visual aids, research laboratories with modern equipment, library, canteen, separate hostel for boys and girls, and seminar hall. ICE placements are managed by the placement cell of the institute. Some of the recruiters at the institute include Ranbaxy, Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Lal Pathlabs and Nestle.

IGE Kolkata is located at Thakurhat road at Badu, Madhyamgram in Kolkata. Being located in the city, the institute is easily accessible through local buses, cabs and auto rickshaws. It is located at a distance of 30 Km from the Howrah railway station.
