Hello Sahil,

Both institutions have their pros and cons which I am listing but if you go by the repute in Indian Hotel Industry, IHMs especially top ones are considered way better than IIHMs.

  • IHMs are government institution whereas IIHMs are private ones.
  • Fees- You can graduate from IHMs with comparatively low fees than IIHMs as per annum fees for IHMs on average is around Rs. 1Lac (including food one time per day, excluding accommodation) and for IIHMs it is around Rs. 3 Lacs (including food two times a day and excluding accommodation.
  • Degree- You can earn an International Degree in Hospitality Management through IIHMs collaboration with the tie-up UK and with the University of West London, London, unlike IHMs.
  • Placement- Placements are good in both.
  • International Exposure- you will get more international exposure at IIHMs.

Kindly make your decision based upon the campus you are likely to get of IHMs or IIHMs.

Hope this answers your query, feel free to ask for more info.

Hi,

As far as I know , according to the curriculum , they do not have any foriegn language courses in IHM. IHM is known globally for institution of excellence for skill and knowledge. In order to get admission you need to All India Joint Entrance Exam of NCHMCT.

They have been an autonomos institution and been a top institution for Hotel administration.
In order to apply, you need to take up NCHMCT.

Here there is a link which will redirect to the syllabus page in their official website. That is the course curriculum for any of the IHM institutes. The only way to get into IHMis through NCHMCT JEE.

http://ihmpusa.net/?page_id=78

NCHMCT , also known as National Council for Hotel Managemnet and Catering Technology Joint entrance exam which is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) . They are autonomus body through which a student can apply to any of food tech or catering technology courses.

The application for UG programmes have been started. You need to fill and take up the test and then apply for IHM . They take admissions through NCHMCT JEE scores.

The above link is of course curriculum for 3 year Bachelors course in Hotel administration. The application has been opened on january 15 , 2019.

Kindly go through that curriculum. It will give you brief about course curriculum. Later you can choose to take up or not.

Hope this helped with your query,

For any queries or diubts, you can revert back here anytime.

Good Luck.

Hello Abhishek,

During the course of three years while you pursue your Bsc degree in IHM, there will be many subjects. But there are four subjects that will be constant during the whole course.

Front office

House keeping

Food and Beverage service

Food production

First year you have to study basics along with classes of bakery, hotel engineering, computers and basics of accounts.

Second year mainly four subjects will be there, main focus will be mass cooking. Hotel account is a important subject here. Here you will be exposed to industrial training.

Third year is mostly management based. Here focus will be on strategic management, cocktails, yield management etc.

I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Heyyyy Abhi98ajad_8372005.....

A candidate needs to give the NCHM JEE Exam for getting admission into IHM Bangalore. The cutoff rank for the general category in last 3 years varies between for the first round : 750 to 850 rank and for the second round : 1450 to 1550 rank and for the third round : 1660 to 1745 rank.

Hello Abhit,

Admissions to IHMs is done on the basis of your score in NCHMCT JEE 2019. The overall score is indicative of your performance in all 5 subjects: Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, English Language and Aptitude for Service Sector. The 3 subjects you do good depending on how much weightage they have in the exam will determine your rank. If two out of three of them are English Language and Aptitude for Service Sector, then it will improve your ranking more.

If by subjects, you meant 10+2 subjects, then it does not matter as long as you Pass in Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with English as a subject of study.

Hope this answers your query, feel free to ask for more info.

Hey,

On comparing both the colleges I would say IHM Hyderabad is slightly better than kolkata. But there is not much difference between both the colleges. It totally depends on how you are. If you are capable you will land up in a good job by either of the colleges as the opportunities are almost the same. But Hyderabad is the hub of corporate world so I would recommend IHM hyderabad.
