Khalsa College Amritsar is an autonomous college established in 1892. The college is affiliated to the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. NAAC has accredited the college with an ‘A’ grade. Furthermore, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted the college the status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’. The campus of the institute is spread over an area of 330 acres and has 64 faculty members in total. As per the website of the college, Khalsa College Amritsar mission is to promote creativity and originality. The college offers programmes at three levels - diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate. 

Some of the popular courses offered by the college are B.Com, B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), M.Com, M.A., M.Phil. etc. The institute conducts an entrance exam for admission in B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Food Science & Technology, B.P.T., M.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Food Technology and M.Phil. programmes. Candidates’ marks in the last qualifying examination are considered for admission in the rest of the UG and PG courses. Khalsa College Amritsar provides over 72 college level, state level and national level scholarships to the students. The placement activities of the college are managed by the Training and Placement Cell of the college.

The closest railway station to Khalsa College Amritsar is Amritsar Junction Railway Station. It is just 3.5 km away from the campus. With a distance of 3.5 km, Amritsar Bus Depot is nearest to the campus.

A well-stocked library with more than 2 lakhs books and journals, separate boys and girls hostels, spacious auditorium, canteen etc. are some of the facilities and infrastructure available at the campus. The college has diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate diploma and postgraduate programmes. Students can choose among 75 courses offered by the college as per their convenience. Khalsa College UG courses are B.Com (Hons), B.A., B.P.T., B.Sc. to name a few. At the postgraduate level, the college offers M.Com, M.A., M.Sc. etc. Khalsa College Amritsar courses are offered in full-time mode. The college provides merit-based admission and entrance based admission. For admission in  B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Food Science & Technology, Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.), M.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Food Technology and M.Phil. programmes, the institute conducts an entrance examination. Khalsa College Amritsar Scholarships 

The institute offers 72 scholarships to students. Out of 72 scholarships, 67 are college level and the rest 5 are state and national level scholarships. The scholarships are only offered to students who meet the eligibility criteria determined by the college. Khalsa College Amritsar scholarships are offered on an annual basis. Although, some scholarships are offered for 10 months also. As per the scholarship scheme, Khalsa College Amritsar scholarship amount is divided into two categories - monthly basis and annual basis. Sardar Rajinder Sikh Scholarship, Sant Sadhu Singh Dhariwal Memorial Scholarship, S. Joginder Singh Chawla Scholarship, Bibi Surjit Kaur Dhariwal Memorial Scholarship etc. are a few of the Khalsa College Amritsar scholarships. The state and national level scholarships are offered to the teachers' children and students whose families are affected by the 1984 riots.

The placement of students is one of the priorities of the college. Every year companies like HDFC Bank, Genpact, Tech Mahindra etc. participate in the college placement. Khalsa College Amritsar placement activities are handled by its training and placement cell. To increase the placement rate, the training & placement cell conducts seminars and workshops. Furthermore, to clear students' queries and help them in choosing the career path, guest lectures by industry professionals are also organised by the training & placement cell. According to the Khalsa College Amritsar placement data 2019-20, as many as 365 PG 2 years programme students were eligible for placements. Out of 365, 239 students got placed and 98 students opted for higher education.
