K. V. R. Government College for Women is one of the premier institutions for women's education in Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1958, its affiliation is with Rayalaseema University, accredited by NAAC with a "B++" grade. The 13-acre campus offers 32 courses in 6 different degree programmes to 1,897 students. The college encompasses a strong faculty base of 80 and different specialisations available under the Arts, Science and Commerce streams. A pioneering Women's education institution, KVR Government College for Women has toiled incessantly shaping up the academic atmosphere of the region since the past sixty-plus years of existence. 

K. V. R. Government College for Women has a vast range of facilities for the betterment of students' academic and personal lives. These facilities include well-equipped laboratories, a well-renowned library with large volumes of books and journals, and a modern IT infrastructure. There is a safe and inherently comfortable girls' hostel created for lodging necessities. The college also offers students with the needed sports facilities, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria to maintain a healthy balance in routine. KVR Government College for Women enrols a total of 32 courses concerning to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Being a full-time college, with more emphasis on streams related to Arts, Science, and Commerce, students pursuing the same can enrol in various disciplines. The undergraduate level courses include B.A., B.Sc, and B.Com, and at the postgraduate level, the college offers M.A., M.Sc, and M.Com. The total sanctioned strength of students in all these programmes is 1,897.

Selection into the KVR Government College for Women is done purely on a merit basis. For undergraduate programmes, 10+2 education must have been passed with qualifying marks. The college accepts applications in baccalaureate in several courses like B.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry, B.Com with Computer Application, and B.A. in History, Economics, and Political Science. Post-graduate admissions are also merit-based.
