Established in the year 1999, National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai is a premier Institution of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). National Institute of Epidemiology currently offers programmes at the postgraduate and Doctoral level along with various Online programmes. At the postgraduate level, NIE Chennai offers M.Sc and MPH programmes. National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai also offers the Ph.D programme at the Doctoral level. Admission in the M.Sc and MPH programmes at National Institute of Epidemiology is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the Written Test and Personal Interview conducted by the NIE and admission in the Ph.D programme at NIE Chennai is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the Personal Discussion Round. 

To take admission in the Ph.D programme at National Institute of Epidemiology, the candidates are required to submit their JRF Award Certificate (if applicable) and the Ph.D Research Proposal to the Academic Committee of ICMR- NIE. However, the Short Term Online Courses which are being offered by National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai are Self Paced and candidates can complete the Courses at any time.
