    About Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Institute of Pharmacy, Nadia

    Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Institute of Pharmacy (NSCBIP), Nadia, West Bengal, was started in the year 2004. This affiliated college is approved by AICTE and imparts specialized education in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The campus has a compact 2.55-acre area with 467 student enrolled and 31 faculty members in service. NSCBIP offers 4 courses spread across 2 degree levels viz. undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in pharmacy. At NSCBIP, its student body comprises 93% undergraduates and 7% postgraduates.

    The institute has several facilities in order to enhance the learning of students. Among the helpful resources, there is a library with a computerized segment where multimedia computers with CD-ROMs are available, along with access to many books, journals, and scientific lectures. NSCBIP offers pharmaceutical chemistry, microbiology/biotech, analytical chemistry, and pharmaceutics laboratories, all fully equipped and ready for practical learning. It provides the IT infrastructure with 30 computer terminals individualized on a LAN with high-speed internet access. It may extend sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor, for games such as chess and carom, volleyball, cricket, etc. Separate hostels for boys and girls are provided, where necessary facilities are made available with back-up in the form of emergency medical support.

    The NSCBIP offers a wide array of programs in pharmaceutical education. There is one undergraduate program in B.Pharma and three different postgraduate programs: M.Pharma in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacology. At the centre of its offerings stands the B. Pharma program, with a sanctioned intake of 100 students. M. Pharma programs exist in specialized cardinal areas of Pharmaceutical Science, with correspondingly smaller intakes ranging between 5 and 9 students, to ensure focused study in depth. All courses are full-time, requiring an absolute commitment to thorough and immersive pharmaceutical education.

    The admission process in NSCBIP is mostly entrance-based. In the case of the B. Pharma course, admission is done through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. Students looking for admission to the postgraduate course have to clear the West Bengal Post Graduate Entrance Test, which opens the gateway for admission into the M. Pharma course. The M. Pharma Pharmacology course considers both WB PGET and GPAT scores. These entrance exams give the institute an assurance of a good foundation in pharmaceutical sciences amongst its entering student.
