General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year full-time diploma program offered by the Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh, and approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).


Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM                            
  • The candidate who has passed the 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible for State Open Schools, recognized by the State Government, and the National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS), recognized by the Central Government                        
  •  40% of marks in the vocational ANM course from the School recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.                          
  • 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Healthcare Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre.                        
  • Registered ANM with passing marks.                       
  • ANM Minimum qualification:10+2 pass in any stream.  

For foreign nationals

  • The entry qualification equivalency, i.e., 12th standard, will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, the State Nursing Council will be responsible for ensuring that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed above.
