Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Trivandrum Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College Computer labs are fully equipped with systems and the latest software, with an environment to implement and experiment with knowledge acquired in the classroom. All the systems have an internet facility and are equipped with 30-plus computers at students’ disposal, offering practical sessions for students, especially those doing BCom Computer Application. The Computer Lab is one of the vital labs of the college. Almost all computer application facilities have been integrated into the college, where learners are not only encouraged to acquire basic skills but also motivated to use the same extensively during their course period.

The college Physics lab is spacious and well-equipped with sophisticated instruments to perform all the experiments as prescribed by the university. The lab is fully equipped to provide an experimental foundation for the theoretical concepts introduced in class lectures. Every academic year the lab instruments are upgraded as per requirements. It also has a dark room for various optics experiments

The modern, well-equipped Geology Lab and Museum includes a petrological microscope and microscopic thin sections and an excellent collection of megascopic rock samples of Igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks, which gives students a wide exposure in the field of petrology. Mineralogy, specializing in the scientific study of chemistry, crystal structure, and physical properties of minerals, can be studied as we have megascopic and microscopic mineral samples, both rare and semi-precious. All other requirements for a geology field survey, such as a Clinometer, compass, Brunt on compass, magnets, hand lens, hammer, protective eyewear, streak plate, haversacks, acids, etc  

The College Library functions as the General Library and Departmental Libraries. It is situated on the second floor of the main building. Along with the library, there is a Reading Room with ample space. The College Library has a good and vast collection of books necessary for all the courses and subjects associated with the institution. The General Library subscribes to peer-reviewed journals and 5 dailies. The Library has a special collection of books for competitive exams, too, including UGC NET. Our Library has been computerized with an e-cataloging system, which helps students and teachers to locate books easily. Each year, the best library user is felicitated.

The college transportation service. Four buses are allotted to the college as of now. Buses owned by the college will be commissioned once regular classes start. The bus service is very helpful to the students and staff for their journey to and from the college and various industrial/field visits in connection with the curriculum. The students are issued identity cum bus passes during the admission process. Buses run in and around the city collecting students and staff from specific pre-fixed points. Bus service is available on all regular working days.

The college has a well-furnished and spacious canteen with a seating capacity of 150. The canteen provides good food to students and staff at cheap rates. The food is prepared in hygienic conditions to ensure the health of students. Both lunch and snacks are available at the canteen. The canteen remains open during college hours from 9.30 A.M to 3.30 P.M. It provides snacks, tiffins, cold drinks, lunch, and tea or coffee on an order basis at a reasonable price.

The college sports and games in the present digital era and their vitality in the shaping of an individual’s personality, health, and fitness, we place considerable emphasis on students’ participation in various games, sports, and other field activities. Along with the mini grounds available now, the management is keen on developing spacious grounds into playfields for games like Cricket, Hockey, Football, etc. A recreation room facility has also been provided for activities like Yoga, Table Tennis, Carroms, etc.  

The college has a boys’ hostel facility, which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The college provides a placement cell with various industrial links, providing a good percentage of placement assurance for the candidates.
