SLS, Pandit Deendayal Energy University Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

Library is basically a collection of sources, resources and services. Library and Information Centre here extensively utilizes Information Technology so that best source and information can reach to the user. The library has been automated using Alice for Windows (AfW) - an international user friendly library package. The software facilitates automated circulation (issue-return) of books and speedy access to bibliographic, location and availability information of the books in the library.

Sports Academy

In order to develop students as players, PDEU developed a Sports Academy.

Sports Academy Objectives

- To identify students with outstanding abilities and place them in an environment designed to produce sporting and educational excellence

- To encourage students to maintain their academic interest using sport as the means of engaging them to achieve the best they can be

- To provide opportunities for males and females to continue playing sport competitively upon leaving school and develop exit pathways to encourage further participation.

- To develop a culture in which students behave with dignity, professionalism and respect.

- To provide lifelong learning experiences through teamwork, discipline and cooperation.

Sports Academy Deliverables

- Access to all the Sporting facilities on PDEU’s campus.

- Coaching sessions led by an professional external coach.

- Opportunity for trials  of representative teams of university, which will participate in tournaments all around the nation.

- Bespoke Sports Academy Kit for players.

Sports Academy Rules

1. All the academy members are treated equally and fairly to ensure they aspire to their full potential on and off the playing field.

2. For students and staff to work within an environment which applies learning concepts, long term development principles and best practice in the development of the elite performance.

3. Only qualified coaches will work with the academy.

4. A culture of improvement and personal development will  drive Sports Academy Provision.

5. Players who are regular to the practice sessions only will be selected in University’s team

6. There will be two groups for coaching:
- Probable players of the university’s team – Executive Members of Academy.
    - Interested player’s for learning a game / sport – Members of Academy

7. Practice sessions will be of two types:-
- First type, only for executive members and
    -  Second type, for all the Members.

8. There will be shifting of players every week from category 1 to 2 and vice versa as per the directions of Office of Sports.

9. Players have to pass a nominal medical / fitness test by the coach concerned before becoming a member of the Academy.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

Empirical experiences are pre-requisites for scientific and engineering education. The University has created a number of sector relevant engineering laboratories which are well equipped to facilitate the pedagogic and research process.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The college has Sports club which students can join.

The college has a Workshop facility for students.

The college also encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities like NSS and NCC.

The college also provides classroom facilities for all the students.

The university offers residential facility on campus. Each Hostel block of the University offers a variety of Social and Academic oriented activities that make it possible to learn more not only about you but also about those living in hostel.

Our in-campus residential facilities offer furnished hostel rooms on three seat sharing basis subject to its availability. This is an optional facility offered to the students. Separate hostels are for female students. There are Wi-Fi enabled hostel blocks which are well-designed to meet general needs of the students. These include emergency medical facilities, a doctor on call and a well equipped and comfortable lounge to facilitate group activities.

Each room in all of our halls has two Ethernet ports connected to the campus network and the internet. Students can work on their assignments and projects easily and have access to online learning material as well.

Laundry:

The laundry service is available at Hostel on chargeable basis. Students can manage with their time schedule for study and other activities without bothering for these basic necessities.

Fitness Facility:

University has its Wellness Center Facility available on chargeable basis. The students access the gymnasiums as per their convenience. Trainer is also available to assist on right fitness tricks.

The University has ensured that the students enjoy a healthy food diet charted out by a dietitian which is wholesome and nutritious. The food court also provides refreshments throughout the day. The cafeteria is attractively laid out and offers students an eco-friendly environment to relax while deliberating on their academic challenges.

Wellness Centre

A nutritious diet and a good workout helps students to combat academic stress. PDEU has set up a state of the art wellness centre which offers cardio & weight training equipment and helps students workout under the expert supervision of a certified trainer.

The wellness centre can look after the needs of more than 50 students per session and is functional throughout the day.

As part of its wellness initiative, the university also provides an open ground for outdoor games, such as football and cricket and practice courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton.
