Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College (SRC), Tiruchirappalli was founded by Padmabhushan Shri.N. Ramaswami Ayyar. He started Savithri Vidyasala Hindu Girls' Higher Secondary School in the year 1938, for the noble cause of girl education. In the year 1956, the essence of college started with 11 girls and grew into a full-fledged college. 24 undergraduate programmes, 15 postgraduate programmes, 7 M.Phil. programmes, 8 PhD programmes, 1 Community College course (Sericulture), and 5 B.Voc. programmes are offered by SRC, Tiruchirappalli. SRC is affiliated to the Bharathidasan University.

Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College is located at Sankaran Pillai Road, Melachinthamani, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The college is connected to all modes of transportation. Tiruchirappalli Town railway station is about 1 Km away and Chatram Bus Station is about 1 Km away from the college. The college is also connected with the airport and Tiruchirappalli International Airport is about 10 km away from SRC. Students can take a taxi, rickshaw or bus to reach college.

Clubs, Committees and Societies:

• Anti- Ragging Committee: This Committee stops ragging of new joiners at the college premises.
• Grievance Redressal Committee: The Committee ensures that there is no discrimination amongst any students inside the campus-based on caste, religion, gender, etc.
• Career Guidance and Placement Cell: This Cell helps students to plan their career and get placed in good companies.
• Center for Ethics and Human Values:
• Counselling Cell: This Club provides counselling to the students in a confidential way who are distressed or concerned about any issue.
• Entrepreneurship Development Cell: This Cell encourages the students to become entrepreneurs and provides opportunities to work on short term projects with corporates.
• Exnora Club: This is a non-governmental environmental service organisation that was started with an aim to create a clean and green environment.
• SEERAS Diet Clinic: This is “The Indian Dietetics Association” that provides services like diet counselling, weight reduction campaign, health screening for students, teachers and non-teaching staff, etc.
• Youth Forum Society Circle: This club functions in collaboration with the German organisation that focuses on three activities i.e. globalisation, women's issues and democracy.
• Gender Champion Club: This club was started in the year 2017 with an objective to improve the well being of girls and women, to advocate gender equality in society.
• Earn While You Learn: This offers part-time jobs to the students residing in the hostel. Jobs are offered in the college gymnasium, general library and the computer and internet centres.
• Students Union: This is an elected body of students that helps administration in organising and conducting the activities by providing different opportunities for growth and development. 
• Internal Complaint Committee: This committee prevents any kind of sexual harassment and promotes gender equality in college premises.
• Student Discipline Committee:  The committee ensures that the students follow the code of discipline and conduct inside the campus, and makes sure that necessary actions are taken against those who violate the rules.
