24 MonthsThat objective of Master of Science in GI endoscopy Technology is to create a cadre of skilled technicians by structured and supervised instruction that will lead to basic scientific knowledge of the various diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, instruments and accessories used in gastrointestinal endoscopy, and their usage, care and maintenance, pre and post procedure care of the patients, and techniques of documentation, sorting and retrieval of endoscopic data. These are achieved by successive sessions of lectures and hands-on training under expert supervision. After completing the programme the student will
• have a basic knowledge of upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy including indications, contraindications, complications.
• have an understanding of endoscopy based special techniques and advanced procedures.
• be able to counsel patients and their families regarding the endoscopy process.
• be able to assist in therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
• be able to handle endoscopes and their accessories properly, including reprocessing, disinfection and maintenance.
