St. Antony’s College of Arts and Sciences for Women, Dindigul was established in the year of 2007 is one of the well known colleges in Tamilnadu for the women students. Housed in the Amala Annai Nagar situated in Thamaraipadi, this affiliated college occupies an area of 20 acres. It was found that this institution has a total enrolment of 1326 students and faculties of 59 with 18 courses under 8 degree programmes. The college is for female students only; 88% are undergraduate students while the remaining; 12% are postgraduate students. St. Antony’s prides that it offers quality education through proper environment that enhances growth of academic excellence of the students.

The college is equipped with different facilities to facilitate learning and many other aspirations of the learners. Modern library as the center of knowledge repository and well-equipped laboratories for different departments as the key for practical learning areas. An auditorium for events and seminars, contributes to a lively academic environment on the campus. To ensure students were well fed and supplied with pocket friendly foods there is a cafeteria available. In a bid to meet this goal, the college boasts of an equipped health centre with a capacity to attend to all health needs of the students. Sports centre promote exercise and team work . The hostel for the Vallan students is in function since the time the college was established and helps the students especially the out-station students. For the benefit of the commuters, the college runs buses from certain terminals. The campus has Wi-Fi to connect to the internet, in addition to the computer centre that is present in each faculty so as to enhance technologically assisted learning. This is an Affiliated College of Mother Teresa Womens University, Kodaikanal.

St. Antony’s College currently has a good range of course-making offer with 12 undergraduate and 6 postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate programmes offered include Commerce, Arts, and Science that include courses like B.Com, B.A. Tamil / English; B.Sc. Mathematics / Physics / Chemistry / Zoology; Information Technology / Computer Science; BCA; BBA. It offers the postgraduate degrees of M.A. (Tamil and English), M.Sc. (Mathematics, Computer Science and Chemistry), and M.Com. Each course is provided as a full-time programme to ensure students receive highly focused and effective education. Although, the numbers of intake for each course separately are unknown, the total enrolment has been recorded to be 1,326, which shows a considerable enrolment capacity throughout all the programmes.

The admissions policy at St. Antony’s College reflects the University’s policy of no prejudice in Race, Creed or Colour. Originally, the institution focuses at the education of women, and this is evidenced by the facts that 100% of students enrolled at the institution are females. However, most importantly, the college is quite regionalised, with 100% of undergraduate and 99% of postgraduate learning institution’s students emanating from the state. It creates local focus, helps to identify cultural orientation and maintain the feeling of people unity. 

The college also provides scholarships where 334 students in the undergraduate programme and seven two postgraduate students got sponsored in the last academic year. This commitment for finances also proves the institutions concern in paying for quality education for deserving students. Unfortunately, there are no details on individual entrance exams and alumni statistics have not been provided as well, however, stable enrolment and expanded range of courses indicate quite a good reputation of the college in the region.
