72 MonthsThe Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme is aimed at assisting students acquiring proficiency in their chosen area of research. The academic programme leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based and involves a course credit requirement and a research thesis submission. The Institute encourages research in interdisciplinary areas through a system of joint supervision and interdepartmental group activities. Research activities in IIIT Pune are carried out under the ambit of academic departments ECE and CSE and research centres (a) Centre of Robotics and Security in IoT Space, (b) Centre of Indian Languages and Computational Intelligence, (c) Centre of VLSI and Nanotechnology (d) Centre for Biomedical Engineering & Bio-Informatics. With an aim to develop new knowledge in all aspects of teaching and research, IIIT Pune offers admission to the Ph.D. programme of the Institute. IIIT Pune plans to develop world class research facilities in areas of Mobile Computing, Information Security, IoT, Robotics, Machine Learning, Speech & Image Processing, Medical Informatics, Cyber Physical Systems, Wireless Networks, VLSI Design and Nanotechnology.
Eligibility Criteria
B. Tech./ B.E. in CSE/ IT or relevant area with a CGPA of at least 7 on a scale of 10 (or equivalent) or 65%. OR MCA/M.Sc. in CSE/IT and allied areas degree considered equivalent to the B.Tech./B.E. degree OR M.Tech./ M.S./ M.E. in CSE/ IT or relevant area with a CGPA of at least 7 on a scale of 10 (or equivalent) or 65%. Electronics and Communication Engineering B. Tech./ B.E. in ECE/ EE or relevant area with a CGPA of at least 7 on a scale of 10 (or equivalent) or 65%. OR MCA/M.Sc. in ECE/EE and allied areas degree considered equivalent to the B.Tech./B.E. degree OR M.Tech./ M.S./ M.E. in ECE/ EE or relevant area with a CGPA of at least 7 on a scale of 10 (or equivalent) or 65%.
Admission Details
Admission is based on Ph.D. will be on the basis of written tests and interviews. Merely satisfying the general eligibility criterion as well as criterion set for each admission category is no guarantee for being called for test and interview. Depending on the number of applications received and considering the constraints of time and other resources for conducting written test and interview, the academic units may put additional academic performance-based shortlisting criteria.
