• Those who have qualified for UGC/CSIR(NET)/SET/GATE examinations and Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the entrance test.

• Candidates must hold a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks to be eligible for Periyar University Ph.D. admissions.

• Candidates who must obtain 15 marks in the written test will be called for an oral interview. Therefore, the rank list is prepared on the entrance test (50% marks) and PG (50% marks).

• Candidates who qualify UGC-NET/UGCCSIR (NET)/SET/GATE /Teacher Fellowship holder/M.Phil. degree will be admitted through a common entrance test conducted at the university level are exempted from the written test but they have to attend the interview conducted by Department Research Committee.

• Candidates who are awarded a national fellowship under RGNF, INSPIRE by funding organised will get admission in the Ph.D programme at Periyar University irrespective of their scores in the entrance examination.
