Both the colleges are well reputed and have a good standard.Both the colleges have AAAA rating and they are accrediated by NAAC with A grade.In terms of fees VIT has lesser course fees when compared with SRM.When we talk about the placement scenario in both the colleges, SRM has comparatively better placement opportunities for this particular branch.The packages offered are also decent and good in SRM.Both the colleges have good infrastructure and facilities.You may refer the below link to know more about the pros and cons of both colleges and then decide.

With your rank, ofcourse you can get Mechanical in SRM Main Campus. However, seeing your rank i feel you should opt for IIt,NITs etc.

I hope your son doing well, hearty congratulations to your son for VITEEE Rank of 26000. Based on the rank there is no chance of getting a seat in CSE any of the campuses. Other than CSE if your son is interested the following branches have a high chance of getting a seat.
VIT Chennai campus:Mechanical,Civil,ECE,Fashion Technology.
VIT Vellore Campus: Bio-Medical Engineering and production and industrial engineering.

college has a food court and they do maintain the hygienic features on top. good maintain on that. labs are clean too. staffs do a job good at this keeping everything clean. it has a overall big library, enough big.
