    Academics

SRM University offers great variety of specialisations and courses for students to pursue. The faculties are highly educated and offer great academic exposure for students who wish to have an extra push over for learning.

    College Infra

Infrastructure for the college is really good, we had separate buildings for each of the branches , and great laboratories for hands on experience. The university also offers grounds and sports arenas for extracurricular activities.

    Campus Life

SRM University offers extremely good campus life for students coming in from all over the country as well from abroad. The campus in general is huge in area offering great infrastructure, sports facilities, cafeterias and food courts, abundant parking and has a really good vibe for social gatherings and events. Students have ample of options to seek and enjoy their campus life.

    Placements

SRM University offers great placement support. It has its own placement cell which supports every student opting for in campus placements. The placement cell offers multitude of companies looking forward to hire great talent. It has over 200+ companies coming to hire students and the placement cell holds a great connection with the companies. Every year the university offers great opportunities to the students.

    Value For Money

SRM University being a private university has a fee structure based on merit from its admission exams. Students are provided a fee structure based on their merit. However the facilities and academic exposure provided by the university holds great value for money.

Large-scale university with outdated tech and curriculum.

    ashmit Posted on 23 Feb'26
    2

    Academics

As an AI/ML specialist, I find the curriculum somewhat lagging behind industry standards. While we cover core concepts like 8086 architecture and OS, the teaching quality is hit-or-miss; it often feels more like rote learning than practical engineering. The 75% attendance policy is strictly enforced, leaving little room for self-study or deep-diving into competitive programming. You really have to be self-reliant and use external resources to actually gain job-ready skills.

    College Infra

The infrastructure is a mix of scale and maintenance issues. While the campus is vast, the labs often have outdated hardware that struggles with resource-heavy AI/ML workloads. Classroom facilities like Wi-Fi are inconsistent, which is frustrating for a CS student. The sports facilities exist but are often overcrowded. While the campus looks good on paper, the day-to-day utility of the labs and the hygiene of common living spaces need significant improvement to match the "premier" branding.

    Campus Life

Campus life is heavily regulated. While fests like Horizon are highlights—and architecting platforms for them is a great experience—the daily "in-time" restrictions and strict hostel rules can feel suffocating. The location in Kattankulathur is safe but quite far from the main city, making off-campus outings a chore. The social atmosphere is diverse due to the cosmopolitan crowd, but the administrative "red tape" often dampens the overall student experience.

    Placements

The sheer volume of students makes the placement process incredibly competitive and chaotic. While "mass recruiters" visit in large numbers, the average package remains quite low compared to the high tuition fees. For specialized roles in AI or product-based companies, the support is minimal. The placement cell focuses more on statistics (100% placement claims) than on the quality of roles or the student's long-term career fit.

    Value For Money

Considering the high annual tuition and hostel fees, the return on investment feels skewed. You pay for the "brand" and the large-scale events, but the core academic and infrastructural experience doesn't always justify the cost. When you factor in additional expenses for books, laundry, and miscellaneous fees, it feels like you're paying a premium for a service that often feels average at best.

College is quite good but there is too much competition

    Academics

am pursuing my degree here because the college offers a structured curriculum and a disciplined academic environment. Most faculty members are knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive, especially when it comes to clearing doubts. The teaching quality is good, with a mix of theoretical explanation and practical examples. The syllabus covers core concepts well, but exposure to recent industry trends and hands-on projects could be improved further. Internal assessments, assignments, and exams are conducted regularly, which helps students stay consistent and academically focused

    College Infra

The college infrastructure is quite good and supports a comfortable learning environment. Classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with basic digital facilities like projectors and smart boards. Laboratories have sufficient equipment for practical sessions, although some systems could be upgraded. The library is well maintained, has a good collection of academic books, and provides a quiet space for self-study. Wi-Fi is available across the campus, though connectivity may fluctuate at times. Hostels and common areas are clean, and regular maintenance is carried out, making the overall infrastructure satisfactory.

    Placements

The placement opportunities at the college are decent and gradually improving each year. Several reputed companies visit the campus, mainly offering roles in IT, support, and core technical fields. A good percentage of eligible students get placed, while others opt for higher studies or off-campus opportunities. The average salary package is moderate, and the highest packages are usually offered to students with strong skills and academic performance. The placement cell is supportive and provides training sessions on aptitude, resume building, and interview preparation.

I have total 68% in my 12th boards PCM , and the forms for improvment are closed by cbse , if i attempt on demand examination exam from NIOS in PCM will jee , BITS , vit , srm , these will accept my result? as i will have 2 marksheets where 3 subjects improved from nios and rest 2 are in cbse.

    Hello aspirant

JEE Main accepts NIOS, so you can appear if you meet the basic eligibility.

BITS does not accept marks from two different boards, so this option won’t work for BITS.

VIT and SRM generally accept NIOS, but having two separate mark sheets can be an issue. You should
