AKG Co-Operative Institute of Health Sciences, Kannur was established in 2017 as a memorial of AK Gopalan who was a politician. The college is a private college situated in the Kannur city of Kerala. The college is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. 

The college offers diploma and undergraduate programmes in Medicine and Science streams. AKGCIHS Kannur courses are B.P.T, B.Sc and paramedical diploma courses. The B.Sc courses are offered with four specialities including Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Microbiology, Optometry and Medical Biochemistry. 

The paramedical diploma courses include Diploma in Radiology Technology, Diploma in Cardio Vascular Technology, Diploma in Dialysis Technology and many others. The tuition fee for diploma courses is Rs. 27,500 whereas for the B.P.T course, the tuition fee is Rs. 59,750. 

Before applying for admission, candidates must meet the AKGCIHS Kannur eligibility criteria. Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations in the Science stream from a recognised board. AKGCIHS Kannur admission is offered based on the merit marks secured by candidates in the qualifying examination. 

The admission procedure involves filling out the application form, preparation of the merit list, interview, document verification, fee payment and seat confirmation. Apart from these, the college also offers various types of campus facilities to the students as well as staff members. Some of the AKGCIHS Kannur facilities provided are hostels, a library, an auditorium, laboratories, IT Infrastructure and many more facilities.
