The college has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in it. The campus sits on a total of ten acres of land. The MGR Educational Society is behind the establishment of the CMRCET.
Courses are offered here at the CMR College of Engineering and Technology at both the UG as well as PG levels. At the undergrad level, B. Tech programmes in engineering are available for the areas of- Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and for Electrical & Electronics. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. Tech programmes are available for the two areas of- Computer Science and Power Electronics. In addition, one can also go for an MBA from the CMRCET. The entire academics at the CMRCET is run by a cohort of seven departments, each with expertise in its own area. Five of these seven departments are for the areas in which the B. Tech degrees may be pursued in here. Another one is for the MBA programme. Another is for Humanities and Sciences. This deals with the English language courses and the fundamental sciences of physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Research plays a very important role in the Hyderabad- based CMR College of Engineering and Technology. That is why periodic Faculty Development Programmes are organized at the college for the resource persons. There is also an Industry Institute Interaction Cell which, as the name suggests, tries to forge close ties between academia and industry. Several meets are organized where representatives from both sides meet and discuss issues as stakeholders. This interaction also allows students to get a grip on real- world challenges beyond the classroom. There is a specific Research and Development Centre to oversee all research aspects. The research areas are divided on the basis of the department. Several patents have also been filed by the institute.
Some of the key areas on which research has been conducted in include the likes of- microwave engineering, signal processing, automata theory, big data, artificial intelligence, power electronics, power systems, manufacturing engineering, material development, design engineering, earthquake engineering, geo technical engineering, foundation engineering, environmental engineering, water resources management, hydro chemistry, mathematical modeling, pharmaceutical analysis, fluid dynamics and a lot more. The bodies to have outsourced projects to the CMRCET include the UGC and the DST (Department of Science and Technology). Works of the faculty members have also been published across different platforms.
A number of consultancy assignments have also been undertaken by the CMRCET. Two major journals are published inhouse on campus. One is the CMR Journal of Engineering and Technology. The other is Sumedha, which is a Journal of Management. Another area of much importance to the institute is entrepreneurship. This is why the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) has been an active forum here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute.
