Its fine. it all depends on you what you want from life ..college won't do anything.... placement is ok.. academics are not very strict here.. linency is top of everything.. so you can lot of time to do your work...and if you are a computer science engineer here so..you know everything is available on the internet so you need not worry about anything if something is not being taught in college..

Studying in This college is like no exposure no buisness trips nothing just exams and not at all helping lectures no practical knowledge and the hostels are worst in time for both girls and boys are different. That is not good plus the mess food and the wardens are worst.

I learned more about life and about myself outside the class

From my college experience, I hope to gain many things. Obviously college is a time that students can truly become individuals. When I attend college I will have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. I have always relied on my parents for support, but at college I will be on y own an will have to push myself harder. This will help me to become more mature and will help me grow in character. Right now I have a fairly accurate idea concerning what I want to do with my life. Yet, I am also aware that I may change my mind several times before I begin a career. College will introduce me to new and various things, an I will develop new interests from this exposure. During my high school years, I have been very involved in school and community activities. In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups. I hope to find a balance between my studies and my social life, and I hope to offer my leadership qualities to my college community.......

College life is good here but placement cell is not much active. They should call more companies.industry exposure is very poor. Hostel life is also good there. Faculties are highly educated there. they should do improvement in placement. infrastructure is damn good. in winters it becomes heaven.Overall a very good experience as a student. I will recommend this college.

About College:

India has several of these institutes termed as the College of Engineering, suffixed by the name of the city it is located in. These were usually started when none others existed in the entire region for the topic of engineering. Many of them are also amongst the most respected in their region. One of them is the College of Engineering in Roorkee (COER), part of Uttarakhand state. This college is relatively young within this cadre, having been founded, quite recently, in the year 1998. The Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust has been behind the establishment of the COER. The total campus stretches over seventy- five acres of land.

The College of Engineering, Roorkee is affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), based in the state capital of Dehradun. The tech courses in the institute are recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). In addition, some of the non- tech course are affiliated to the Sri Dev Suman University, itself located in the city of Tehri, also in Uttarakhand. All this affiliation, ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission) as well. The COER runs programmes at both the UG as well as PG levels. At the under- grad level, on offer are B. Tech programmes eight engineering areas.

These are in the engineering areas of- Civil, Applied Electronics, Information Technology, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Plastic & Polymer and for Electronics & Telecommunication. One can undertake one’s studies here in the professional courses of the BCA and the CFA. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical and specialised. So, the M. Tech programmes are available in two of the areas so far mentioned. These are in Mechanical Engineering and for Computer Science & Engineering. A master’s can also be undertaken for an MBA or an MCA. The admissions process is quite stringent here, across the academic areas and levels.

Scores of the national- level JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains are taken in to account to assess entry to the UG level programmes. The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) holds sway at the master’s stage. For the MBA programme, admissions is via any of the nationally- recognized entrance exams such as CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions) or the CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test). Post the results of these tests being declared, shortlisted students need to appear for the PI (Personal Interview)- WAT (Written Ability Test) round.

The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Banking facilities with ATM are available in the campus’s vicinity. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria.

The college even has its own transport to ferry students to and from the campus. A convenience store is also located within campus. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. The library is connected to digital interfaces such as the DELNET (Developing Library Network). Online learning is another methodology that the college strongly endorses. That is why the College of Engineering, Roorkee has also signed up for the NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning).

The entire academics here at the COER is run by a cohort of ten departments, each with expertise in its own area. These are for the ten areas in which the UG programmes are run in. Eight of these, being for engineering, while the other two are for management and for computer applications. The placements have also come up at the COER. Some of the key recruiters over the recent seasons have been the likes of- Accenture, Capgemini, 99acres.com, Asahi, Capital IQ, Aspiring Minds, L&T, Cummins, Genpact, HCL, Ginger, Newgen, Mphasis, JSW, Lava, NIIT, LG, Mahindra, Infosys, Jabong, RPS, Idea Pot, Tata Motors, Honeywell and many more.

Research too plays a very important role here. For this purpose, the College of Engineering, Roorkee publishes its own in- house academic journal. It is known as the Tejas International Journal. Its contributors include the faculty members, students, as well as external contributors. There are even some external reviewers for this peer- reviewed journal. Besides Tejas, there is also another periodic journal published called Anwesh. Several collaborative deals have also been signed up with other educational institutions to help with various assignments. All this and more has prompted the Careers 360 magazine to place the COER within the AAA category among engineering colleges.
