The College of Fisheries, Agartala started from 1998 is another substantial constituent college of this university for providing fisheries education and research. This institute for co-education is situated at Lembucherra, Agartala, Tripura and its area is spread over 61.36 acre. Recognised by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, the college has a full- fledge programme focus on fisheries science . Having a total of 204 students and 27 teachers, meaning that the college has a good students teachers ratio, thus ascertain quality education delivery is accorded to all. These change and develop across 10 courses in 3 degrees with a focus on the fisheries and aquaculture industries.

Students at the College of Fisheries are privileged to access crop of superb facilities that give them the enabling environment towards achieving their academic and personal dreams. Amenities include the Internet, and the hostels are single-gendered with boys and girls having their own hostels on campus. There are more than 6,850 books in the school’s library which is supplemented by 77 periodical subscriptions annually for use in study. The college has a computer lab with internet and LAN allowing development of a technological wise atmosphere in the college. In a health and fitness, aspects there is a fitness center, and there is also a health center with doctors and health personnel. It also has indoor sports facilities as well as a comparatively large playground that occupies 7 000 square meters. Moreover, is an auditorium which can accommodate up to three hundred persons it is mainly used in academic and cultural activities.

The College of Fisheries provides a complete portfolio of fisheries courses for any level of education. It offers one bachelors programme (B.F.Sc), seven masters (M.F.Sc) specialising in what include Aquatic Animal Health, Fish Genetics and Breeding and fisheries resource management and two doctoral programmes (Ph.D) in Fisheries Science and Aquatic Animal and Health Management. These courses are meant to be keyed in as full time ones to allow full intervention and exposure out on real life experiences. The total number of student enrolment in all courses is 204 and the college prepares quality fisheries’ professionals to the labour market each year.

For the under graduate courses, the actual eligibility criteria depends the Common Entrance Test conducted by the various states. The admission for master’s programmes is more extensive with 60% weight age of the entrance test and 40 % weight age of the marks scored in the qualifying examination. The same procedure is applicable to admissions to a doctoral programme. The undergraduate programme of the college accepts CUET-UG score of the candidates. All candidates are advised to understand that the cut off mark with negative marking is 20% to qualify for the entrance examination for all categories of students.

The College of Fisheries offers a Ph.D programme. The college provides two Ph.D courses:

  • Ph.D in Fisheries Science (sanctioned strength of 3 students)
  • Ph.D in Aquatic Animal and Health Management

The admission process for Ph.D programmes is the same as M.F.Sc. programmes. Selection of candidates is based on their performance in the entrance examination (60% weightage) and their performance in the qualifying degree examination (40% weightage).
