College of Fisheries, Agartala Admission Process

The College of Fisheries, Agartala, is a renowned constituent college that is accredited by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). The college provides integrated education and research in fisheries science with an emphasis on the development of competent professionals for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

The College of Fisheries, Agartala, follows an admission process that will identify the best-qualified and worthy candidates. The college will take scores in Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses (CUET-UG) for admission to undergraduate programs. CUET-UG exam will be held from May 15, 2025, to May 24, 2025, in online mode.

Application Process

Application process of the College of Fisheries, Agartala is different for different programs:

For B.F.Sc (Undergraduate) Program:

1. For admission, candidates have to register for CUET-UG through the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal.
2. Candidates have to appear for the CUET-UG exam as scheduled.
3. After the result, apply to the College of Fisheries, Agartala on the designated portal of the admission.
4. Bring all document requirements: CUET-UG score card, 10+2 mark sheet, and other relevant certificates.
5. Wait for the announcement of the merit list of the college.
6. If selected, undergo admission formalities like document verification and payment of fee.

For M.F.Sc and Ph.D Programmes:

1. Visit the college website to find out when entrance examination dates will be announced.
2. Fill up online application form for the programme one is interested in.
3. Pay application fee as required.
4. Take up the entrance examination organized by the college.
5. Candidates found suitable shall be called for document verification.
6. Final selection depends on the total score of entrance exam (60%) and academic performance (40%).
7. Shortlisted candidates need to finish the admission procedure by furnishing required documents and paying applicable fees.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science):

The B.F.Sc course at the College of Fisheries, Agartala has an approved strength of 9 students. Admission to the course is on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the CUET-UG examination. The candidates should be from the merit list prepared on the basis of the Common Entrance Test held by the concerned states.

M.F.Sc (Master of Fisheries Science):

The college provides various specializations under the M.F.Sc course, each having an approved strength of 5 students:

  • M.F.Sc Fisheries Resource Management
  • M.F.Sc Fisheries Extension
  • M.F.Sc Aquaculture
  • M.F.Sc Fish Processing Technology
  • M.F.Sc Aquatic Animal Health
  • M.F.Sc Fish Genetics and Breeding
  • M.F.Sc Fish Biotechnology

For all the M.F.Sc courses, the admission is through the college entrance examination (60% weightage) and the candidate's performance in the qualifying degree examination (40% weightage). At least 20% marks in the entrance examination is necessary for shortlisting.

Ph.D Programs:

The college provides two Ph.D courses:

  • Ph.D in Fisheries Science (sanctioned strength of 3 students)
  • Ph.D in Aquatic Animal and Health Management

The admission process for Ph.D programs is the same as M.F.Sc programs. Selection of candidates is based on their performance in the entrance examination (60% weightage) and their performance in the qualifying degree examination (40% weightage). The 20% minimum marks criteria in the entrance exam is also applicable for Ph.D admissions.
